Nintendo better start producing in larger quantities, since the NES Classic sold out like crazy, and still could. The SNES may do similarly well, being a more "retro" console that a lot of 30-40 somethings grew up with.
I think somebody produces the N64 classic, with every single game from all regions. I saw it on YouTube before. Here is one video...

They really aren't going to be able to meet demand for this one regardless how many they make. Those are all million sellers with the exception of the unreleased Star Fox 2. It's an excellent selection of titles across a range of genera. _________________ (\_/) Beware

And............... you won't be able to get one, unless you pay 2-3 times the market value on amazon or ebay _________________ www.YouTube.com/hab007GE |

Yes. Or a modded Wii, a modded original XBox, or an old laptop or PC hooked up to your PC. There are lots of convenient ways to play SNES games on a TV without having an actual SNES, but I think this product will be bought by mostly former SNES owners, who still love the system and it's games, and who'd want this as it represents something that means so much to them.
Plus collectors of video game curiosities (in this case a two-decades-on re-release of an old machine that contains some of it's best games) will want it, and some people will buy it because they want to play the games but don't legally own the games already and they want to keep things legal. |

While anyone can easily download these roms nowadays I'd still buy this.
It's a neat little machine and filled with classics. |

Assuming you went the completely legit route and didn't factor in the price of the host system, it would still be less expensive to get this than all the titles through Virtual Console. _________________ (\_/) Beware

That little N64 in Wrecks video is actually a Raspberry Pi running Retropie - which really is a one stop shop for emulation. But pertaining to N64 (which is why we're here) is only at about 50% compatibility because the N64 is a horrible system to emulate.
If Nintendo does decide to make a N64 mini I fully expect them to only have titles that emulate well, running on an off-the-shelf emulator such as Mupen64. A real treat would be if they also did a release like Starfox 2 on this upcoming one, although I'd be pained to know which N64 title would fit into a category like that.
Pertaining to the SNES classic - I won't buy one, I really don't dig that games lineup as there were so many other great titles! _________________ No Mr. Bond, I expect you to be re-coded! |

If they do end up creating an N64 Classic, and decide to release a game that less people have been able to play for it, a translated version of Animal Forest would be a prime candidate. Animal Crossing is extremely popular, so it would be welcomed with open arms.
There are some Rareware gems that might not have a chance, unfortunately. Microsoft has done well keeping those titles to themselves. |

It would make more sense to skip emulation and reuse iQue hardware. It would also making dumping the stuff non-trivial.
The problem with Animal Forest is the localization. What Gamecube got was what they'd have to make on N64--totally different events, removing the shrine and replacing it with something else, and about 60% of the dialog would need to be completely rewritten to compensate. There's the added issue of requiring some way to visit other towns; this was originally done with mempaks. It wouldn't be economical and it isn't the killer app that would lynch it.
They'd probably be lame and just put out Sin & Punishment + Master Quest. China saw a release of Custom Robo, though they might censor the bit where your Mom gets slapped. There's a decent chance 64DD titles might find there way on there; there was some attempt to get Sim City 64 working in VC. Some unreleased title like Echo Delta would get a lot of interest. Marigal had a few things that weren't released.
Realisticly, a GBC / GBA player would be the next non-console to spit out.
Really don't think N64 is popular enough to be able to sell one of these. _________________ (\_/) Beware

Well it would be a lot of work for Animal Crossing.
I would like them to put F-zero X with expansion pack, but whatever, it is available now for every Everdrive owner anyway. |
