Guess he got tired of me asking to up the text limit and to be fair with a project like this I would have had to up it seemingly forever. |
A pity, though. What were your results with Zelda's Birthday, please? |

I just played Storage Complex, by Terrell. As soon as I saw a pink test tube in his map, I got worried. After beating the mission and restarting, I went straight for it and attempted to put a bullet into it. Crash. This damned object has affected a handful of custom missions. I think it needs to be a 03 Standard type. My previous attempts to fix this object as a 2A Glass object, no matter how big I keep trying to make it, don't help. Making it invincible should prevent crashing. Oofjay did something with them in his Complex mission, but even that was a little odd (can't break by shooting, but it falls off broken table and disappears). I have not looked into Terrell's setup file for any other possible issues, but the mission was able to be completed. |

Yes, the test tube is too small to generate proper glass shards on destruction, resulting in a divide by zero error. You could make it a lot bigger, though then it looks awkward. What I did was make it a 03 regular object with little health, and setting the flag "remove on destruction" on, so it wouldn't explode like a regular object. _________________ Oofjay |

I actually kind of like the pink test tube to blow up when destroyed. Makes it feel like there's a combustible chemical inside that reacts to being exposed when the glass is compromised. Also makes a good hazard, which you could use to your advantage.
I've made it quite big during testing, and it kept crashing. Upsizing does help other glass objects (cup, lab beakers and flasks, surveillance camera), but this one I ended up stopping with, as it was getting ridiculously large. |

That "remove on destruction" flag doesn't disable the explosion, it stops the object from deforming by deleting it. The object will still explode if it has one defined. _________________

I'm not quite sure what exactly I did, but it didn't have a standard explosion, but more like a debris "explosion", like when you destroy a table. After it was destroyed, it just disappeared.
The test tube was originally meant to explode in the game. Rare wanted to make the scientists pull out the test tube when they were shot and angry, and throw them at Bond like a grenade. It was scrapped due to a lack of time, but it wasn't even supposed to be a prop in the first place, but more like a weapon. _________________ Oofjay |

You can change how an object explodes in the Game Configuration menu, under the Model Details tab. It's part of the upper-left area.
Can't say I've heard that about the test tube, but l haven't been keeping up with the interviews as of late. _________________

Going to re-open HakPak64 today, I figure even with my issues with N64Vault the information should come first and foremost, that and with this stimulus check coming in May I'll be able to keep the website open for longer until I can either get my old job back before Corona hit or find a new one.
Still, any help donation wise is always appreciated but not required.
Edit: It's up and slightly updated, will be doing heavy updates today and tomorrow: www.hakpak64.com _________________

Very glad to see it up and running again. Between it, and other comments made here, many missions for GE (and a couple PD) have been fixed. It would be nice if people who specialize in other games can work on some of those, too.
How would one even try keeping up with SM64 mods? There's a crazy amount out there. SimpleFlips contests alone generate a bunch on their own, nevermind ones released on sites and forums over the years. And the vast majority don't work on console, which majorly sucks. At least some of the most popular are being updated.
Edit: Gave a quick run through of Snowy Mountain, by Terrell. Mostly because I was curious what he did, since I also have a Surface mission close to finished. Anyway, I have not tried on console, but noticed some things that affect the level no matter which way you play it...
Softlock in fenced area (one-way lock needed)
Softlock in satellite building (one-way lock need)
Major Softlock if drop into ventilation tower (need to be closed)
Surface i scale rounding, screws up ventilation tower portal |

It's definitely a challenge, that's for sure, especially when there's no one good site that hosts them. Out of the two best ones I've found, one of them stopped caring about the state of their hosting so many hacks cannot be downloaded any more and the other has a wide variety but the UI for the website is horrible and clunky.
Makes me glad the GoldenEye community is the way it is, we've kept track of most everything and it has always been available in one easy to find place with a decent UI. _________________

Off hand, does anyone know where the last stupid weapon prototype is on Oofjay's Complex level. I spent half an hour blowing up every single prop I could find and then 10 more minutes just aimlessly walking and looking to no avail. _________________

I believe they are all hidden inside the secret fake wall areas. Should be four of those? If you're familiar with the Complex in multi, than you might know where those all are. Worst case, just walk up against every wall slowly until you pass through it. |

I knew where the one is in the room with all the pillars and the other on the second floor platform with all the metal boxes stacked up but I couldn't find the other 2.
By the way, I'm still getting a crash on Chimp Caverns at the very end when you complete the level with all objectives complete the game hangs at the black screen. _________________

I thought I'd sorted that level all out. When you beat the mission, does the ending scene play? And if so, was there a tiny explosion, or a massive one? I may have to poke at it again. |

It quickly flashes that you completed the scientist casualty objective then goes to a black screen and locks up, no cutscene. _________________
