Cobradile & I threw together a batch file to generate the images needed for mission selection and briefing screens.

The batch file will convert the image to grey scale, resize it, add borders and crop both halves so each half shares the middle row of pixels.

Source Image

Mission Selection image 72x44

Mission Briefing Photo (before cropping) 256x127

Mission Briefing Photo upper and lower parts after cropping 256x64

I have a quick video demonstrating it... I know a video for a batch file?

Neither of us are batch file experts. Feel free to fix things or whatever.

We had an issue where I forgot to make sure the image when converted the grayscale was 4-bit.

Then we had a heck of a time trying to get it explicitly convert it to greyscale 4bit.

V1.3 of the batch file should not be used. Latest version is v1.41.

gc_artuso87 on the N64 Vault discord asked if we could do one for profile photos.
It should be trivial.. the next post has our first attempts. It appears to be correct.

As a test I reconstructed the Nataly profile picture from the four parts by removing the duplicate seams and the white border.

Since it was already in greyscale, I had a batch file at the border back and crop it into 4 65x65 corners with each part having a shared edge in the middle portions.

It isn't rocket science, but I was still excited to see it work. I know experimenting on animals is wrong, but in the next post I needed a test subject. I recruited my dog Coco.

The end result is as only as good as your source. Here I am using a resized picture of my dog. I was pressed for time and it was the only picture I had.

Original 121x121

4 pixel width Border Added and converted to greyscale 4bit 129x129

Finally the 4 65x65 cropped pieces generated from the border image

This is a great little tool, thanx for posting but it's asking me for a Decryption Key to download?

Heres a little thing I found when making the profile pictures for GF64:

All character photos are
full - 129x129
devided - 65x65

But the "?" photo is
full - 129x133
divided - 65x67

Interesting.

Update: I replaced all the Mega download links with DropBox download links

I could be mistaken, but isn't the random level select image also a different size compared to the rest? Bit odd that the "?" Images were not the same as the others.
