Just curious as to peoples favorite zombie games.
Resident Evil has always been a great series. Don't really like the direction that the movies went (and the more recent games) although the animated RE movies aren't too bad. I was blown away and frightened when I 1st saw my friend playing Resident Evil for the PS1. Although the voice acting is pretty brutal, the game seemed to have a very creepy feel to it. Not knowing whether a zombie is going to pop out, what lies in wait behind the doors when your opening them.... just epic
Probably my favorite titles from that series are RE 2, 4 and Code Veronica.
Another zombie game I find really fun is Left 4 Dead. To be honest I did not really pay attention to it, but got it new years with my 360. Valve games always seem to be really fun, I love how this game supports couch co-op, and you are able to play online with that person too. Although this game doesn't really have the eerie feel that a Resident Evil has, and it a different style of game (FPS), it can be quite satisfying blasting the heads of hundreds of charging zombies. _________________ www.YouTube.com/hab007GE |

I used to play Left 4 Dead 2 a lot, that probably takes the cake in my opinion. _________________

First Resident Evil. It's a classic and will always hold a memory in me when it first came out. Honestly I am SICK of zombie movies and television. It's like everyone is staying in the SAFE zone to make money off of POP CULTURE. We need some fresh bold risktakers that want to do fantasy and sci fi stuff. Or even some horror stuff on folklore. ANYTHING besides repeating more vampire sh*t and werewolves. LOVE True Blood but we need to be more open. Zombies are flat out being PLAYED OUT waaaay too much. It's like all there is on television and are all my stepson talks about. The sh*t is getting old people. _________________ |

Resident Evil 4 was fantastic. Though I thought Dead Space 1 and 2 managed to do what RE4 did, only better. Though whether or not the undead creatures in the DS games count as zombies is debatable. Great games though, but I wasn't too impressed by DS3, which simplified the game to a so-so third person shooter.
Duke Nukem: Zero Hour (N64), is a very good first person shooter (well, it's third person, but you can play it totally in first person using a push button code from it's Gamefaqs page), and it has zombies in a few levels.
Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64) has zombies, but only very briefly. A great game though, and very funny, and some of it's multiplayer games are brilliant, even against the inbuilt bots.
Timesplitters 2 and Timesplitters 3 (XBox, PS2, and Gamecube) have zombies in a couple of stages, and are again very good games.
Blood (PC) is a first person shooter with zombies in, and it's a great game. Graphically very primitive (it runs on the Build engine, which powers Duke Nukem 3D), but the gameplay is all there.
The extremely good mod for Half-Life, the They Hunger Trilogy, is based around zombies (and a Lovecraftian atmosphere) and is well worth playing. It does start off slowly, but gets a lot better.
Dead Rising 1 and 2 (XBox, PS3) are third person zombie games, I've not played them enough to judge, though.
Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse (XBox, PS2, PC) is another game I've not properly played, so I can't comment on it. |

Resident Evil 2.
It's just such a well crafted game. Two playable characters (both with two scenarios each), a fantastic music score, great enemy design, awesome locations, good range of weaponry, and bonus mini-games. I've played this on almost every platform it has been released on. I love all the classic RE games, but this one has something very special about it. Still waiting on a remake that stays true to the original. _________________

I know only one good zombie game, and I'm shocked that no one has mentioned it here yet.
Fantastic game, two players are must.

ZAMN is awesome ;*) Surprised nobody mentioned House of the Dead.
Absolute favorite is Plants vs. Zombies. Also has the best soundtrack of the lot. Sequel should be out sometime near the end of the year. _________________ (\_/) Beware

Ah that game was pretty fun, I remember my friend renting it when we were young and playing it on his SNES. Thought we made it really far when we only cleared like 7 or 8 stages, lol. The couch co-op mode made it that much more enjoyable, there is nothing more annoying then rocking a game with a friend and having to wait until they are done until it is your turn (or vice versa). _________________ www.YouTube.com/hab007GE |
