Perfect Dark, the best game ever (sorry Wreck, but you know it's true Very Happy) is being ported to the PC, now that the game has been decompiled and the source made public.

Here is a video of the current (early) version:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBnUcETsxxs

You can download it from:

https://github.com/fgsfdsfgs/perfect_dark

The download is half-way down the page, just search for the word 'Download' (and ignore where it says that there are no releases published).

To play it, you need to rename a Perfect Dark NTSC version 1.1 rom file to:

pd.ntsc-final.z64

and put it into the game's \data\ folder.

Note: This project (the PC port) is still in it's early stages, so it's missing things like redefinable controls (it's currently using WASD + mouse, R for reload, Space for the controller's A button, ENTER for the controller's B button, etc, so at least the current controls aren't badly thought out), the ability to invert the Y-Axis, and so on. And don't be surprised at any sound or graphical glitches, or maybe if it crashes.

Hopefully when it's working properly, they will modify the game to take advantage of the PCs strengths, such as replacing the game's onscreen keyboard (for naming teams, save-games, etc) with the ability to use the PC's physical keyboard, the ability to save as many multiplayer setups as you like, and use the graphics from the 2010 remaster , for those who prefer that look.

And maybe even make it possible to play the current N64 modded single and multiplayer levels (the few that exist) and of course Goldeneye X (since that's basically the Perfect Dark engine using Goldeneye assets).
