Has anyone yet found a way to make the (fantastic, by the way) PC port of Perfect Dark play Goldeneye-X? Goldeneye-X is a modded version of the Perfect Dark rom, so I'd imagine (speaking as a know-nothing idiot, admittedly) that the PC version of PD wouldn't need much modifying to run G X.

Yes, it's when some really clever person/people looks through a program or game, and creates source code (computer program listing) and makes it available so that anyone can download it and compile it to run on another computer or console.

By the way, if anyone hasn't tried the PC port of PD, download it from here:

https://github.com/fgsfdsfgs/perfect_dark

or download the game + the brilliant all-in-one mod complete with dozens of new multiplayer mods, from:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EnDmK-RnYEOhcraGE3e0MzKuWsMOuQ3A/view

It's brilliant. You will need to find a copy of the N64 Perfect Dark game rom (as it contains all of the graphical/audio/etc data) but google will help you there.

There's no simple way to do that.

Basically, all the changes made to GE-X would need to be implemented in the PC source but in C, after finding where the changes should be and what symbols the PC uses for the data. Depending how it references the N64 files, that code might need to be revised for address changes/counts/etc.
You'd have to remake the patch from scratch and Wreck is, as far as anyone can tell, one person.

Apparently two different people are working on mod loaders for the PD PC port, and GE-X is being tested. I don't have anything to do with it, though. That stuff is outside of my wheelhouse, unfortunately. It will be interesting to see how that goes. As-is support is fine, but I wouldn't be too thrilled if someone decides to "continue" the mod on their own. I did make progress since the most recent public release patch, which includes three more WIP missions.
