Yikes it's been a couple years and well, I'm confused now. The rating of the processors confuses me and now there is 2x speeds. Ug. Who's up on these damn things? |

What processor are you looking into? AMD's system as far as rating is pretty simple, goes right along with the gigahertz, its just in the thousand. For example, my AMD 64-Bit 3.2 GHZ is labeled AMD 64-Bit 3200. Intel goes by another system, which baffles me, but idc about Intel anyway, too expensive for too little. I should really get my friend to post in here for you, he is constantly checking for better values on pc hardware, and knows more about it. |

Okay I've figured this out now. Done, found a new "old" processor. Glad and lucky for that really. Max speed now. |

Updating this, I went with an Athlon XP 3200+ which is the best processor possible on my rig. I'm outdated but managed to find a new one! My motherboard is past is prime by far, which surprised me in one way, but not in another way... |

Let me explain... it's surprising in the sense that I didn't realize the short lifespan of motherboards, but the whole one size fits all is well erm...not what processors are all about. That means, as an industry, it's better to make things not compatible year to year. That's what I'm talking about. On the other hand, I damn happy to have best processor for my mobo. Just take my advice anyone who thinks about upgrading in the future. Watch the trends and prices. When you socket is being retired, jump before the demand outweighs the supply. It's tricky getting the best bang for your buck. I just don't recommend dicking around with new processors. |
