It’s so great to see Subdrag finally made it real !!!
This big room where it lags is strange, but the Mission is still very playable. Everything that I wanted is here: A nice little tribute to Rareware’s great game : stealth, cameras, janus special forces, dumb scientists (I love how they follow you for no reason, it’s so stupid but who didn’t found them stupid in the original game ?), taking pictures, exploding things, getting clearance cards, a safe to open, the silenced PP7, exploring the level, multiple ways to finish the level… I wonder what would Rareware say, looking at that Mission and the Library Mission. Maybe we should tell them ! ^_^
Did anyone noticed that Samuel Paddington is actually Daniel Carrington ? I wanted to link Goldeneye and Perfect Dark with that Mission, small detail, just a little joke... One detail that I didn’t expected : Trying to take the secret passage by shooting the cardboard boxes in the small room near the camera room causes big explosions !

I could never get past that passage. I thought it was blocked off by the big grey set of boxes? Or does it let you go through?
It's a fantastic level, I applaud your design! Paddington did seem like a familiar name... |

You can go through that passage, but you have to be careful with the explosions...  |

Got down to 5:19 on 00 Agent for this level, playing normally. Basically played my strategy more aggressively and made very few mistakes.
There's some issues with this modified ROM and the only re-recording N64 emulator though (save states freeze the game), not sure if I'm gonna be able to make a TAS or not. Though, it would be sweet if I could. Lots of opportunities for crazy TAS accuracy in this level.
EDIT: 5:13. I'll try to record a better playthrough of the level within the next couple days since I'm more comfortable with it now. |

Very nice mission, Timothy1979. You did a great job laying it out. I especially liked the room with all the pillars. It's a shame that it doesn't seem to run on all emulators without suffering from lag in certain areas. I was able to complete it on Agent mode, but it ended up crashing halfway through Secret on me as I was about to switch weapons. Judging by the video SubDrag put up on YouTube of it being played on a backup device, it performs incredibly well. I might have to try and see if I can get it to upload to console when I get back on Monday. I also noticed a few odd things that could use a bit of fixing. Perhaps I'll look them over and see if they can be helped.
Anyway, awesome work on this one.
Edit: My main concern, was with the doors. But I've managed to fix them all. Not any resizing, but changing bitflags. I knew how to correct them, because I ran into the same problem with a Frigate muliplayer setup I've had on the go. There's also some other little things with stacking that seems off. The security cameras aim in weird directions, too. Not sure if you'd want anything done with them. I'll try to come home earlier on Monday, so that I can do some more with it. Might as well iron out as many kinks as possible. _________________

Thanks Wreck !!! If you want to fix the security cameras, no problem !
There is also one little problem, but I think it's hard to fix it : When you're seen by a camera, the alarm goes on, and all the CIA Agents come after you. That's a problem, because if you want to complete the "Kill all CIA Agents" Objective, you only have to stand upon a camera, be seen, and just shoot the CIA Agants who will come. Too easy, since I wanted the player to search these CIA Agents and go after them throught the whole level.
At first, there were 3 spawning points for infinite guards to come, and they were not the CIA Agents allready in the level. Subdrag changed that, and now if you're seen by a camera, only the CIA Agents allready in the level will come. Then after you killed them, you can be seen by a camera : nothing will come, since there are no more CIA Agents. I've wanted to do something like the inifinite guards coming if you're seen in Bunker 1, but maybe it's too hard ?

Perhaps the three of us could go over it and fix up any flaws in the setup, as well as make further modifications to the action blocks. It's definitely possible to put in some small groups of spawning guards when the alarm is activated. He knows better than I, though. Another consequence for when you're caught by a surveillance camera, could be the assassination of Paddington. Rather than allow an intruder to get their hands on him, they choose to eliminate their captive. It'd cause you to fail the objective, and be swarmed by security. Something to think about. _________________

The CIA Agents coming when you set off the alarms was intentional. I thought they would be fiersome on 00 agent, maybe they're not. The security cameras do face weird directions sometimes, but generally they're designed to be on the path but not necessarily looking at you. I guess at some point they should spawn new guards. |

Even though they have dual ZMGs, on 00 Agent that's still only a single bar of health damage (whereas Phantom the normal guards carry does one and a half). Granted your weapons are powerful in this level and so the CIA guards aren't very fearsome. Maybe, give them massive body armour like the guys on the Caverns mission (meaning they take 3 headshots to kill). That way they'd only be stunned at the first few shots you make on them, and would require more precise aim to kill before they can hit you a few times. |

I have had a few problems with making a level on the setup editor. I downloaded janus facility level and then did quick convert on the setup editor and then opened the goldeneye rom on the emulator and the first time it work. So then I decided instead of making my own level i would use someone else by change the items like doors. I started by doors in the facility changing them from the orginal bathtroom doors to the lab doors then i did quick convert and it worked so i was like sweet and decided to start on the room with the the keycard that you need to open and then i change some of the things that were already there and then did qucik convert and then tested the the level it looked like it wanted to load and then i quess it froze cause nothing would show up does any one know how to fix this? thanks |
