As we all know, GoldenEye is THE greatest game of all time, hands down. What I wanted to know is what 3 reasons you would give as to WHY you are still playing it today, console or otherwise.
My three reasons are:
1) Playability - the main reason we still play it nearly 10 years on!
2) Multiplayer - GE probably revolutionised all multi FPS's to date.
3) The GE Setup Editor - Thanks to the hard work put in by SubDrag, zoinkity and a few others; have literaly given us what we all wanted - to make our own levels. We love you! (In a plutonic way at least!) As good a game GE is, 'cos we all know the levels inside out, it is refreshing to play these new missions. It's made a perfect game more, well, perfect! |

I think the true reason, besides being the best crafted game ever made, was the GameShark. It let us expand in all the ways we dreamed. Yes, it's the best game ever, but without being able to adjust things, I think while we still would've claimed this, it would've mostly collected dust. |

Maybe it's cuz GE was a revolutionary game for it's time.
Reasons:
1. Objectives
2. Well-designed missions/levels
3. Great graphics/sound (and this is only N64!)
4. 007 Mode/cheats
5. Glitches/Button Codes
6. A bunch of weird details
7. And the multiplayer!
These alone caused me to keep playing BEFORE I got a GS. Once I found one, GE became even more replayable. And the GE Editor.....when will GE be dead? |

-Absurd amount of detail. The only fps game before it with to have extreme detail like ge was dukenukem3d.
-Objectives that go beyond find blue key for the blue door.
-First fps on a console that can be played with ease.
-Unlockables though achievements making players play levels over and over just to get these things.
-Increasing the difficulty adds more objectives to make missions play different.
-Guns lots of guns
-All the stuff in Multiplayer |

2. Yes, only on N64
3. Was back then the best console multiplayer also (until PD)

-Great understandable storyline
-Great Single Player action
-Plenty of Single player levels to choose from
-Awsome weapens to choose from
-Cool multiplayer maps
-Just to put it simple as it gets: ONE OF THE BEST EVER MADE! |

This may sound crazy, but that the game is around PG-13 in violence. Instead of coating the screen in blood they focused on gameplay and theatrics.
If you look at the list of non-M fps games, the list is short but notable. For instance:
Goldeneye
(for the most part) Halo
Battlefield 1942 (before TEH MODs)
Star Wars Battlefront and KotOR
The biggest differences though are the awesome explosions and the interesting play dynamics. For instance, you are invincible for a brief period after being shot, giving newbies half a chance. There's none of that foot-distance-rate crap. Everything respawns at the same rate. No carrying capacity. You can collect stuff off corpses.
In other words, they never attempted to balance the game, resulting in, paradoxically, a perfectly balanced game. _________________ (\_/) Beware
