I recently recieved an email from [Name withheld] claming that he had Beta Goldeneye 007. here is a quote from his email

Hello, I understand you are interested in Beta Goldeneye and other beta games. Well It may be good for you to know that I am the owner of a Rare ware Testing cartridge. This cartridge is of Goldeneye007. Now, I would allow to have the game but frankly, i do not trust you fully. You may try to sell it or expose it. Frankly, I do not want that to happen. I will only give you details and not anything else. 1. The game is definitely scratchy and very slow. Now i do not know how far in development the game is. 2. The Weapons are still in there beta form. And still have their names 3. The All Bonds cheat is not in the game at all; so this cartridge must have been past then. 4. All the guards are blond haired and have really bad teeth, so this may be really far into devlopment that is all the information you will get.

What details?
The only point he's accurate about is that there was never an All-Bonds cheat. There's no remanant of code to validate that it was a cheat at all. In fact, it would have been a hassle to set up.

Game is scratchy? What the heck is that supposed to mean? Ask what medium it is on. There's only two acceptable answers, and it's doubtful he'll get it right.

By scratchy i think he means "glitchy". Or the cart it self is just beat to hell.

He hasn't emailed me back in a week so I believe the cops must of snagged him.

The last email he sent he says 'I am using a flash cart de-coder, and well..the rest is too confidential and I cannot show you"

and for screen shots he says "That is way to confidential and it is too secret to fall into the hands of a unknowable."

There's no such thing as a flash-cart decoder. It isn't encoded, it's just like a slightly-oversized cartridge but with eeprom or flashram or whatnot on it, depending on the type. You dump them like any other cartridge, last time I checked.

Plus, that's about the end of it. Once dumped, you have an image. That's it. They're like normal cartridges, except you can change the contents.

So, let me get this straight. He writes you out-of-the-blue telling you he has this, then tells you you're not worthy enough so he can't send you anything to confirm it. In other words, he's either an idiot or a raving loon.

My favorite part is how he says he'll give you details, then tells you you can't have any. That's rich. Besides, screenshots are nothing. All it does is proves your case and if anything increases the desirability (aka: value) of the cart.

This, unfortunately, is a hoax.

By erasing the e-mail addresses out of the image of the Gmail message you posted, what's to make us think that you didn't just write it up and send it to yourself? Frankly, I don't trust you, either...

That guy is really taxing my brain. At this point i don't believe him. So There is no point in divulging. This person seems to have been using the GE64.net email account. I edited out the guys name at the top not his email actually. I couldn't find his email at first it just said "Matthew Newman"(which is Master_Mountains real name) so it seems one of those to is lying to me.

Also the DEMO CART my friend Mat got was a crock of crap actually..he admitted it at 4:00 am.

I never saw the game I just heard what he told me.

Sorry to rag on you like that. We all want a beta GE, and the chances a beta sprouts up are slim to nil.

I get loons every now and then who try to get money out of me for one, providing virtually no proof whatsoever. Sometimes they find some really obscure beta images and a few can be rather convincing. After a while though the scam becomes evident. Something along the line doesn't add up, more often than not something technical.

If there really was a beta cart bouncing around, or even just a few models, or even just a few good models that happened to look enough like the beta stuff to pass, I'd leap at it too. There are so many frauds though you have to be extremely scrupulous.

Turned out it was a guy from GE64.net

so i got scammed
