I'd say go with the disc/lens cleaner first.
Being that you have probably tried many different discs that at one time or another worked on the system, we can rule out the discs being hte problem.
The "Big Red" one might have just been too cool of a game so your ps2 decided to kill itself while it had the perfect game under it's belt, or...
If its not any of that then it's probably that the platform that moves the eye moves on is jammed. Sometimes they get stuck. Finangle it a bit and see if it works.
If not than trade in the system along (with or without the games) and spring for a next gen.
That's about all ya's can do my freind.

If your PS2 is the first model I would advise you to buy a new one which is $120.00 brand new (which is not a bad deal) the Ps2 is skinny and it has a brand new laser. I believe the first model of the Ps2 has a really bad quality laser. |

My PS2 still works fine and hasn't let me down, (I bought it in December 2001!)
In your case though, it is dust on the lens, which is a common problem, especially with the new PS2's. I believe that the Lens cleaner will do the job just fine, or you can do it yourself by gently wiping the laser eye with a Q-tip. (This will require taking off the case of your PS2, thus you'll lose your guarantee!)
The choice is yours! |
