Okay, I'll come right out and say I hate third party controllers, my parents always bought them for our NES and SNES and they were never as responsive as the originals. My friend gave me this behemoth of an N64 controller for my birthday...probably nine years ago now, I hated it, it was bigger than the original Xbox controller and the stick broke within a month. Anyway, my reason for starting this topic, are there any good third party N64 controllers out there? Something that's as close to the original as possible, same size and shape. They have ones like that for pretty much all the older consoles now but I've never seen them for the N64. I really need some new controllers and Nintendo charges $30 for first party ones on their website, I'd rather not pay that much if it can be avoided.

I have a "SuperPad 64" by Performance. What interested me about it, was that it was a limited edition gold version. Little did I know that the controller was quite a bit beefier than the actual N64 controller. Not only that... but the gold paint came off on my hands. I'm not kidding. The middle grip's underside is silver now. All the gold came off on my left hand. That's the last third-party controller I'll ever buy.

I'd suggest checking out a used game store, if you have one near buy. The price of a previously owned N64 controller shouldn't be too bad. Besides, you're better off getting the real deal - even if it costs a few extra bucks.

I picked my last one up for $10 but the stick was already pretty worn out, it lasted me a while but it's just as unresponsive as my old ones now, I move at a snail's pace in GE. I know you can buy replacement sticks online but I don't know how good they are.

By the way, Scorpion and I are about the play a game online, you interested Wreck?

Did you know that there's a Nintendo 64 controller with two analog sticks?

Nearly two-year bump! I was browsing eBay this morning, looking for replacement sticks, and happened across this:

N64 BLUE CONTROLLER GAME SYSTEM FOR NINTENDO 64 N64

I'm tempted to buy one. It's only $6, and it looks exactly like the original, except without the Nintendo logo. The buttons look like they may be a little different as well, and it's hard to tell by a photo alone, but the plastic looks a little cheaper, you can see texture on it. Might feel a little off, and who knows how good that stick is.

As I mentioned in my post above, they used to sell similar reproductions for the NES and SNES at Lik-Sang, and they were pretty good from what I've heard. Better than picking up a random used first party NES controller after nearly twenty years.

There's definitely nothing quite like the original - I still have an original grey controller and an Atomic purple controller - I've gotten a TON of use out of the purple one and it still works almost like new.

I didn't have any luck finding anything, but does anybody make an equivalent fix-a-pad kit for the N64 controller? I was only able to find one for the NES...

Not that I know of, other than replacement sticks. I haven't seen a kit like that since the SNES era (and didn't have much luck with those, either).

I have one, and the stick cover came off. I cant really play with it now, as the cover for it is lost. Luckily, I have an original grey controller.

I know it is not a controller but I found it a year a go and its cool.

Its called a Pandora and should have the n64 running full speed, also someone is working on a dreamcast emulator as well, and hopefully being able to play 007 through a handheld!

Well, not to get too off-topic, but I'm very skeptical. Very. It's a port of Mupen64, and yes, there's a video of it running Mario 64 seemingly flawlessly, but that's Mario 64. I want to see Perfect Dark with all of its flashiness, running as well as it does on my N64. It's just not going to happen.

Don't get me wrong, I see some potential in the Pandora, but they're marketing to the wrong crowd. Stop going after emulation enthusiasts and rope in some actual developers for the thing; get exclusive games. As it is now, it'll be a big story at the standard geek news sites when it's out, then everyone outside of its community will forget about it.
