 |
|
I completed this challenge yesterday, and I wondered if any of you wanted to go back to OoT and try it out if you're interested. So, here are the rules/restrictions and route to the Minimalist Challenge. You must beat the game while following all of these:
-3 hearts, no heart pieces at all
-No deaths (death counter must read 000)
-No Iron Boots
-No Giant's Knife/Biggoron's Sword
-No Goron/Zora Tunic
-No Silver Gauntlets
-No capacity upgrades
-No Silver/Golden Scale
-No Deku Sticks
-No Deku Nuts
-No Fire/Ice Arrows
-No Great Fairy gifts except small magic meter
-No Bombchu
-No Magic Beans
-No Lens of Truth
-No Megaton Hammer
-No bottles
-No Longshot
-Can only obtain Light, Shadow, and Spirit Medallions
-Can't learn any songs except Zelda's Lullaby, Saria's Song, Song of
Time, and Minuet of Forest
-No Gold Skulltula tokens
-No Gerudo's Card
-No Dungeon Maps or Compasses
-Can't use Crooked Cartridge (ie. pulling the left side of the game out of
the N64, which allows you to go through some obstacles)
-Can't use a Cheat Device (Gameshark, AR, etc.)
-Can't use power crouch stabs to attack enemies (ie.swinging your sword with a shield up, which can do 2x damage)
-Can't collect a Hylian Shield as a child, but you may get one as an adult
-While you have a shield equipped, use it as little as possible and destroy
it as stated in the route.
Now, the route you must follow....
Child:
-Kokiri Forest
-Deku Tree
-Hyrule Castle
-Lost Woods
-Goron City
-Dodongo's Cavern (don't burn shield yet)
-Zora's Domain
-Jabu-Jabu's Belly
-Dodongo's Cavern (burn shield ASAP)
-Temple of Time
Adult:
-Graveyard
-Forest Temple (get Fairy Bow, but don't complete)
-Graveyard (get Hylian Shield)
-Shadow Temple (get shield eaten, kill Like-Like and reclaim shield, but
don't re-equip it)
-Spirit Temple (after completing it, re-equip the Hylian shield, get it
eaten and don't reclaim it. To avoid learning the Requiem of Spirit, warp
out of the temple)
-Temple of Time
-Ganon's Castle
-Ganon's Tower
Have fun!

Unless you consider a glitch to be a cheat, then no. Besides, this run requires a lot of glitches and tricks. |

No, I didn't use that glitch at all during the run. However, you do have to use glitches like the bomb hover and Shadow Temple Early. |

I thought you had to use some of these items, like fire arrows for the frozen switches and silver gauntlets to finish a labyrinth... _________________ (\_/) Beware

There are skips for both of those.
That silver guantlets block in the Spirit Temple can be bypassed. It involves getting on top of the nearby cobra statue and hovering over the block (quite hard).
And the fire arrows...there's always the Ganon's Castle skip. |
