Mario 64 is indeed too easy!! It's fun, but not so much fun.
I understand that Miyamoto wanted this game to be easy enough for the little kiddies to play on Christmas Day 1996... but even a decade ago, I thought that this game was easy. (I was in Nintendo's target age group in 1996-97.) I just got all 120 stars again, just a few days ago. E-Z.
All the one-ups in this game are useless. Going to see Yoshi after getting all 120 stars is also useless.
This game needed Luigi as playable character, to reward the players.
Overall a fun game; however, but there is no replay value. I like its predecessors Super Mario Bros. 1 (NES), Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES), & Super Mario World (SNES) more, for their replay value. |

Try Yoshi's Island 2 on DS. Granted, you'll be swimming in lives, but it's one of the few truly difficult Mario titles. Easily up there with smb2 (japanese, not the Doki Doki Panic knockoff) _________________ (\_/) Beware

The only difficult Mario game I've played so far is Super Mario Bros on the NES, the rest are too easy. |

I've never seen Mario as a series that is supposed to be challenging, rather one that is just supposed to be fun, which it tends to succeed in doing regardless of difficulty. That's something I really wish the ROM hackers that make asininely hard SMW hacks would learn, they're just not fun at all. |

Even with smb2j being as brutal as it was near the end, at least it was fun. The most difficult levels were just really neat, with crazy off-the-wall concepts. I mean, who doesn't love flying ridiculously high in the sky and trying to dive-bomb a tiny little platform in horribly windy conditions?
Most hacker rewrites tend towards being boring. What's sad are the Zelda hacks. It's always stuff like "butcher a room of 52 wizrobes with your wooden sword and three hearts to open the door", and guess what's on the other side? Another 30 or so, except now its dark... Come on. Everyone knows Zelda's all about puzzle solving and feeding moblins meat. _________________ (\_/) Beware

I though Mario 64 was hard enough for me because it introduced the 3d environment into the game. But The Lost Worlds is the hardest Mario of all others! _________________ An Elevator from Earth; then to the Heavens...

Ah, mario. My favorite was Mario world because it kept all the charm of the old games while adding a few new things. Yoshi's island was an abomination. Of the old ones Mario 3 was my favorite. Going from one different world to the next was neat.
The original mario kart was also the best of the bunch. The gamecube one is second best though. |

What may seem weird, is that I found GameCube's Mario Kart: Double Dash to be very difficult, even on 50cc. But the newest Mario Kart: Wii wasn't all that tough. I won gold for every cup on all classes and gotten a star rating or higher in each. I think the only thing I've yet to do is beat the 1st Round ghost on Mario Circuit in Time Trials. Maybe too many people complained about the difficulty in Double Dash? _________________
