Yes, the higher the ping, the laggier the game, hence slower framerates, etc. Ping is something to do with the time to send a signal to yourself and recieve it....I don't know too much about it... |

Ping is a way to test the connectivity between two networked computers. It verifies packets (signals if you prefer) reach the destination by having one computer send ping packets and the other receiving and sending back a response, and optionally the first computer replying again so the second one knows it's earlier reply has reached too.
It's also a way to calculate network lag/latency because you can calculate the time elapsed between you sending the ping packet and receiving it's reply (Ping? Pong!).
It's usually calculated in ms. |
