Did you add those monitors or were they there? I can't remember. That is a really cool observation on vent.

The pads were already there, I just copied one of the multiple image monitors from the black room onto them.

I took these screenshots from the IMDB video Captin.Frosty linked us to, which BMW then made an .FLV of. They are all small things I noticed in the Dam...

Very small detail, which most would overlook. There is a manhole in the middle of the walkway. The only place they appear now, is immediately infront of each guard tower.

Again, another small detail. The shadow on the floor from the open ceiling is in a 3x3 grid. In the final, it's 4x4. Not only that, but it stands out like a sore thumb, having a thick black outline. You can also see that it's much brighter in the old shot. The swivel chair is clearly lit, whereas now it's in the shadows.

As pointed out by Dragonsbrethren, the covert modem connection screen is different. It's actually a different model entirely from the one used in the final version. This is the satellite uplink box (PsatboxZ), which wasn't featured anywhere in the end product. It just so happens to follow the white satellite dish in the object list. I guess we now know exactly what it was for, where it belongs, and why it has that name.

Also, note how there aren't any wooden crates in sight. It's possible that they were destroyed, but highly unlikely. Seeing as they've vanished completely, I'd doubt they were ever there to begin with.

The mesh gate can't be seen, but that's probably because it was opened up all the way and off-screen to the right.

The tube that runs down the wall from the satellite to the box doesn't seem to be here, either.

Edit: There's also this. The obvious thing in the picture, is that Sean Connery's white tuxedo and head models are still intact. But that's not so much what interests me. What the narrator says is...

"Play solo, or against a friend or foe, with the two-character split-screen."

Could it be, at that point in time, they hadn't gotten 3 & 4-Player modes up and running?

So the BETA uplink box is still in the ROM's memory?!

Just shows what you can find if you look hard enough! Very Happy

Heh, I can't believe how many of those things I missed. That manhole appears to have a portal, if you watch when the view zooms back out you can see the sky through it briefly. I don't think that happens with any of them in the final version.

Edit: Another thing, I remember reading somewhere that Rare got permission to use the four bonus villains when they had to remove the three extra Bond actors from the game. Seeing Connery and Oddjob in multiplayer together proves that that wasn't the case. Maybe that was just a bit of a misunderstanding on the part of that site (maybe they got permission to keep the villains, but not the Bonds?).

Yeah, that sounds right.

or maybe the bonds were the only ones that complained, and the villains did not care... or did not notice. Razz

I'm sure that it's been seen before, but here is a BETA pic of the Facility bottling room:

What's interesting to me is the fact that the gas canisters look like they are part of the map, rather than individual objects.

My bet is that the artist developped the maps with all the objects as static geometry when he recreated the film's locations, for the sake of knowing how it would look, and they were removed when imported into the game to be replaced by in game objects instead.

It would be rather strange to make the map without the features meant to be in place.

Resuming, these were probably just placeholders meant for the artist only.

I wonder though, if the original developers had a way of having those objects automatically converted to pads for actual objects (given what we've heard about the game's development, I'm guessing probably not, they were probably typed in manually).
