If the British had shown mercy on them they would have lived and there was no way they were getting any sympathy from the Russians after trying to betray them.
Maybe if they went to America the results would be different, they would die in some mysterious accident.
Like accidentally being shot with Assault Rifles that were seemingly packed with the same type of ammunition used by the American Military

And yes : His parents are only betrayed, and not killed by them. Maybe Trevelyan will revenge Bond after he saw his parents ????.
I don´t know. But do you not find that we should try out it.
It sounds very good and it would be a other story, other objectives and so.
