That's a little longer on elevator scene, and janus guard over there, but nothing new. What's it from?

Old Spanish VHS tape. I had it but lost it and recently found it in digital form (which made me very happy).
It consisted of long videos of seemingly final versions of mario, pilotwings and wave race, and then this "collage" of many games

To me, this looks like a video from NOA which probably has more stuff before, probably involving these 3 games mentioned in a more beta-ish form, so they decided to cut it and make longer (and commented) previes of the final versions instead. I would have liked to see the whole original montage. Possibly it was screened at E3, Soshinkai or some other trade show, probably E3 since the video seems to focus heavily in western games, specially cruis'n usa, which has the longest sequence of all.

The video was sent to former Spanish Club Nintendo (now defunct) members shortly before N64 was released. It was also packed with some magazines.

Cool vid, radorn. There are a few things I took notice to that I didn't with the shorter cut:

1. This most definitely takes place in the starting Silo, using a very similar layout to the final version. The only layout difference I spotted was that the top walkway only goes a quarter way around instead of half, and does not have a door to the area where Ourumov is in the final.

2. The elevator decelerates when nearing the top, rather than moving at a set speed the entire time. It actually moves at a pretty fast clip in the beginning.

3. Blood is more opaque than in the final version, and is a whitish-cyan instead of red. Guards still spark when shot, so even at this point they weren't using the blood spatter graphics.

4. Jungle Commandos and Janus Special Forces were in at the same time. I always assumed the Jungle Commandos were placeholders, then the Janus goons, and then finally the Russian Infantry. This proves that idea wrong.

I'd love to get the uncut version of the original source video for this sequence. We have two different cuts here from Nintendo, but I'm guessing the original source was from Rare and had more footage than was used in either of these. I wonder if anyone held onto this material, like those previously unseen press kit screenshots. I'm really interested in seeing the bottom walkway; it would show us how the elevator was activated, and the layout of the silo at that point. We know there were plans for another door down there.

This elevator, was it ever in the game, or was this for a cut scene, or? Sorry. Probably a dumb quez. I thought there were none.

A working elevator was in the game at the point this video was made. Most people believe this was made during the shooter-on-rails stage of the game, because of how slowly Bond moves, how perfectly he turns with the walkway, and how he can aim freely while moving.

The host I used back then only keeps stuff for a week maximum.
But now I'm preparing some kind of "repository" of old N64 beta stuff from vhs tapes and other sources, which will include this video.
Look out for it, but keep in mind that due to many hardships I'm going through it won't be too soon, so, please, be patient.

I don't want to use YT or other online video sites because of the recoding.
These things are already encodes of VHS stuff, sometimes reencoded from something else, and I don't want to loose further quality so I want to keep them as untouched as possible for better preservation.

Mediafire makes a very good repository for stuff, I use it for all my backups... all 9000+ of them. Up to 200 MB file limit but you can upload and download as much as you want, and the upload and download speeds are virtually uncapped.

Could this be reuploaded? Turns out this is before my HDD bought it, and I don't had it anymore. Would love to have good footage of the elevator again, especially after realizing there was another walkway in Silo that ended up getting cut in the final game. This clip, IIRC, ends looking down the silo, I want to see if I can make out any of the other walkways.

Radorn sent me a very large zip file of his old VHS collection that he transferred to digital a while ago but that was unfortunately lost when my hard drive went. It definitely had some GE demos and tons of early PD beta demos and promotional videos (PD ones for the most part already existed on the net but I can't necessarily recall the GE ones) amongst an ample amount of other titles. A shame now knowing how precious it was to have raw MPEG and not a file that was circled through the net (which he also brought up a few posts above.)

Damn, that's really unfortunate. I hope those videos are still in someone's hands.

To be honest, I'd take a little quality loss from uploading to the video sharing site over, you know, nothing. It's so hard to find early GoldenEye stuff compared to Perfect Dark online. I wish I had uploaded this video to my channel.

In situations like this one it's probably best that he should have done so.

I have some of radorn's videos but I'm not sure if I have this one.

The only GE beta video showing Silo elevator I have is a mix with other N64 titles from the 1996 E3 (or at least that's what the name of the video says).
Full video lasts 2:47 mins and shows Mario 64, Star Fox 64, Blast Corps, Kirby's Airride, Cruisin' USA, Body Harvest, SW Shadows of the Empire, Mario Kart R, GoldenEye, Turok and Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey.

The GE part lasts 14 secs (with title screen, Silo level is like 12 secs). I think it's the same that can be seen in this other video: http://youtu.be/LBwNA3HHCF4?t=23m54s

If you are looking for this footage I'll cut the GE part and upload it.

EDIT: This is exactly what I have.

I have found a download link to the full promo VHS (it's 44 min) in high quality. GE part is at 42:10.

Aha, that's the one! Excellent! Thanks Sogun.

Unfortunately I can't make out anything of the other walkway, but it's still awesome to have the full clip again instead of the one interspersed with the clips of that damn kid. Razz
