Didn't they try this but cancelled it because of all of the licensing issues? _________________ 304 HP |

Not going to get my hopes up, but if (and that's a very big if) this is true, it's great news. It means we'll likely be getting a remake on both consoles. I assumed Nintendo's issue wasn't with the game being released on the 360, but with them only getting an emulated version instead of the remake. I took issue with it, too. I'd certainly buy an emulated version on the VC (Nintendo has the best N64 emulator out there right now), but the remake never looked that graphically intensive, and I'd even be happy with a remake limited to the original graphics. I just want a nice motion-based control scheme and online multiplayer, which isn't happening on the VC.

We've never gotten a straight story, and most of the "reporting" had an anti-Nintendo bias towards it to begin with, so take this with a grain of salt. Basically, there really was no licensing issue anymore. NoA, Microsoft, Rare, and Activision had everything sorted out and ready to go. NoJ, however, prevented it from happening. The deal was that the X360 would get a remake, and an emulated version would come out on the VC. Like I said, chances are it would've gone through if both consoles were getting the remake. |

Heh, yeah, me too.
Edit: Found some more information about this game. It's being handled by Eurocom (who you might remember did TWINE, and the QoS game), and I'm betting it's nothing more than another attempt to cash in on the name like Rogue Agent. I'd be happy to be proven wrong, of course, but I can't see why Eurocom would be handling the original game, unless Rare isn't contractually allowed to work on a Wii title. In any case, I don't have high hopes for this regardless. |

Here is the full story
GoldenEye Wii - More than just a rumor?
October 30, 2009
There is a lot of talk about GoldenEye Wii coming in 2010. We want it and Nintendo must realize it. Remember a few months ago about GoldenEye showing up on Xbox Live Arcade? Nintendo didn't want that to happen. Perhaps now, Activision who holds the James Bond license, has been able to get the parties together and hammer out a deal.
The reasons for the rumors are that there was a recent job posting from a graphic animator who mentions having worked on a GoldenEye game for the Wii with a release date sometime in 2010. That resume has since been removed. No official word has been mentioned from either Nintendo or Activision. This could have been a very big mistake for that animator because there are a lot of confidentiality agreements when it comes to new video games. A big oops. However, this slip up bring us great hope for GoldenEye Wii.
We will keep all the details of GoldenEye on Wii as they become available. My prediction is, an agreement between Microsoft, Activision and Nintendo. GoldenEye Wii and GoldenEye N64 were simply made to be. GoldenEye forever is simply not a dream. I expect this to be a reality in 2010.
This was the video that was released, that was apparently the Xbox Live Arcade version of GoldenEye N64. They had been working on it and this video does seem authentic. GoldenEye Wii would be equally impressive I think. _________________ Also known as Spyster or Nyxem

OMG if this will gonna reales, i will turn around 500 times.
And this would be the only reason why i would bought Wii, because then i cam play GoldenEye.....
I hope that work, and i hope there will come out a german version of it.
I think it will be, because GoldenEye 64 was forbidden in Europe because of human rights/laws.

LOOOOOL
What in the world are you saying, man.
I heard it was banned in Germany, and from your comment it seems like it was banned in Austria too, but it was not in the rest of Europe, or at least not in all other European countries.
I'm from Spain and I bought my copy of the game, and you could/can buy it in the UK too, France, Finland, Italy...
Anyway, chances that this new GoldenEye game is even related to the GE we all love are slim, in my opinion, and if it is, chances of it being even half as good are very remote seeing how the VG market is today. |

Wouldn't it be something if this "GoldenEye" game for the Wii turns out to be some stupid update or sequel to Rogue Agent? _________________

Really, if it's a completely new game, I'm hoping they at least make use of the third person stealth element from Quantum. That was the only part of the game worth anything. If that was taken, and plugged into GoldenEye's formula, I think it would make an excellent game. The problem is Quantum was just too linear, with boring enemies, too few weapons, and too many things to draw you out of the action. |

I generally don't like third person games (due to awful camera control), but Quantum is a FPS, it just has a third person camera when you're taking cover. It works really good, and it's clear it's the one thing someone spent a lot of time on in the game. You know how you can use the C buttons while aiming to peak out from behind corners in GE? The third person mode is the same thing, basically, but with a much better view of what the guards are doing. It gives you a lot of great opportunities for ambushes (Quantum also had an unarmed combat mechanism, but I thought it was really lame). |
