Hey everybody !
So, you might know how poeple tend to recreate stuff from GoldenEye because it's so awesome?
Well I gave a shot to this aswell, and I recreated the Aztec Complex in Doom. The overall quality is quite good, and I figured I would ask your opinion on this!
Here are some comparison screenshots, note that tha map is fully done and playable, but I'm too lazy to do more screenshots..
Here goes
I know it doesn't look that great, but I'm satisfied as it goes.
If anyone wants to play this, then let me know, I'll share with you everything you need to get to play this. _________________

Yeah, that's a pretty faithful recreation, better than GoldenEye Doom II (which didn't even have Aztec) to be sure. All you need are some custom textures and you could have a really nice recreation there. What port are you using? I don't recognize that hud. If it's ZDoom-derived, you have slopes, which can make the monitor room look truer to the original:
http://zdoom.org/zdkb/slope.html
(EDGE and Eternity have slopes as well, but I don't have a nice page to link to. I think they're all set up the same way, using the same line types.)
Of course, if you're not interested and want to keep it looking like Doom, that's cool too. I'm a pretty big fan of vanilla Doom without all of the port-specific features. |

Holy crap, someone knows about ZDoom here!
Yes so far I'm using ZDoom, as it allows slopes, something the original exe doesn't have.. I'm affraid I can't recreate some bits, such as the sloped pillars in the computer room, they require a 3D structure that Doom can't render..
Well, glad you guys like it. _________________

Very nice job, Yurei.
I actually really like the way that's come out in Doom-ified form. It has the feeling of a fun old PC game, definitely. Maybe someone can get a video of it being played up on YouTube, once it's done? _________________

I can do that for sure.
Yeah some of you might be wondering "Jesus, why doesn't he make GoldenEye maps?" Well I'm thinking of this, don't worry!
Here are a few others screenshots :

That really does look great, Yurei. It's weird seeing maps from GoldenEye being rebuilt for a game like Doom, but it's very satisfying when you see them done some justice. _________________

Sure.
In fact it's already done. I used at first the midi that can be found in the Setup Editor, but as ZDoom suports extended music formats, I figured I would use mp3. And I'm using the GE Source Aztec song in it. _________________
