How much would a new Windows XP computer that is built for (online) gaming, has several GB of ram, several hundred GB of hard drive memory, DVD-ROM drive, insanely good graphic and sound cards, and all that other good stuff that is required to play new games cost? |

lol. this thread is doubly out of place.
you are asking for a COMPUTER for GAMING, and yet you post it in NON-GAMING subforum when there is already one for PC HARDWARE and another for GENRAL GAMING. |

next 10 years? thats not even remotely possible and if you want computer that will last you should get dx11 graphics card, not nvdidia GTX200 series or HD4800 and older
Insanely good graphics cards are: GTX 480 or 470 but I'd suggest HD5870 or HD5970 depending on your budget (all of those things cost a lot though 350-700$)
Intel core i5 / i7 for CPU or AMD Phenom II X4 (and lga 1156 motherboard for i5, lga 1336 for i7 or then AM3 for Phenom II)
Those are pretty much newest and best parts you can get.
Best setup HD5970 / GTX480 with i7 and your looking at around 1300-1500$ I think and lowest price probably around 1000-1100$
Edit: Oh and you really dont want XP for gaming since it dont officially support DX10 or 11 and you need 64bit OS also to be able to use all that memory since 32bit OSs cant use all that memory |

Didn't DX10/11 fail like Windows Vista? |

1. Windows Vista doesn't fail
2. UPGRADE. Who the heck wants XP for gaming?
3. My friend has XP for gaming though, works just fine. _________________

DX10/11 didn't fail and DX11 cards are new also (Nvidia released GTX400 series just couple weeks ago) so are games, but they're coming. Take a look at video that compare DX8-11 in Crysis and decide for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYfec0PqJ00
I myself wouldn't buy other than dx11 card for new gaming PC. XP will be out one day, maybe not yet, but MS is making strong push to try get people to upgrade away from XP. You still can play most games on XP, but new games have separate binaries for DX9 and DX10 so they won't look as good on XP. |

XP won't play everything in the next 10 years you intend your computer to last. of course you can always change OS later.
The thing is that if you intend to buy something that is so awesome now that it will still be of some use 10 years in the future, it means you are probably going to have to buy win7 level hardware, and XP would infrautilize it since it will lack drivers and OS features that are intended for such hardware, but if you buy XP level hardware and then upgrade to something else, your hardware will be somewhat lacking. |

I will literally CRY my eyes out if Windows XP is still in-tact in the next 10 years. _________________
