this site doesn't seem to offer links for individual news, but, for now it's still at the top.

So does this allow GameBoy games to be played on an NES console using the NES controller? That'd be pretty cool, actually. I've never been a big fan of handheld gaming systems, but being able to play on a television with a gamepad would be nice.

well, yes, I'd say that seems to be the whole point. A Super GAMEBOY for NES.

Honestly, this doesn't interest me all that much. There was already the Super Game Boy and the Game Boy Player officially, plus I remember there being something to let you play GB and GBC games on the N64. I mean it's cool and all, but it's not $130 cool. Now, a GB Power Pak, that would be $130 cool.

I don't even have a NES myself, DB, so go figure xD
I still find this really interesting from the perspective of technical achievement.

I will be interested in seeing how GB games play through this thing. One of the most interesting aspects of it will be the sound.
The Famicom has an extra pin for mixing the console's onboard generated audio with sound generated by chips inside the cartridges, but the NES lacks these pins. Therefore, unless they output audio some other way, it's obvious that you won't be able to produce the GB music within the cart as would be logical, but rather the cart will need to somehow translate sound events/commands to the NES soundchip so it gets generated there. While NES and GB sound is rather similar, it's not identical.
I'm interested in hearing the differences.

Oh yeah, definitely. I just think it's really odd that he's planning on marketing it. The sound is something I hadn't considered (because I know nothing of the GB hardware).

Oh, and by the way, there are actually quite a few GB/C carts out there, and I'm talking about new developments, not old flashes from Bung and the likes.
I could try to dive in my neverending bookmark collection (in the thousands) and retrieve some for you if you are interested.

If it's not too much trouble, sure. I lent my GBC out to a friend and it came back broken, and I've got a DS Lite for my actual portable gaming needs, but I've been considering picking up an old brick GB to play around the house for nostalgia's sake. (I can always pick up a GBC instead if the carts require one.)

GBC is cool. But if your going to get one you sud go with a GBA that will let you play with the GBA games and you can play with GBC games to on it Dragonsbrethren.

brick GB has better sound than any other GB model, and also has a certain charm to it that the rest dont.
