ac67, as stolen said, the editor replaces the game's native textures.
what stolen textures is doing here is something different.
these texture packs only work under emulation because they are "external" to the game.
in this scenario, the emulator overrides the game's textures (the ones the game stores in the ROM) by catching texture commands at runtime comming from the game, identifies the texture the game wants to display and tries to find the matching one in the texture pak.
If it finds one, it will use that one instead of the native.
This way, you can make 2x, 4x, (and I think) 8x versions of them and the emulator will use that instead of the native textures.
This can't work on real hardware or in a "native mode" emulator because it's completely out of the spec of the n64 hardware.  |

Has anyone tried before editing any characters Bodies/heads with texture editing? I'd say you could probably get some neat characters out of that, but I would assume it would require a lot more configuration/modifications to prevent crashes and run time errors |
