Out of curiosity, how has the Wii U fared?

Well I love it so far, the online shop has tons of games that I'd love to try out, sadly I have no credit card.
I enjoy the games that I bought, and have plenty more on my list to buy.
What I dislike is that it freezes in some games, which can be quite frustrating.Another annoying thing is that sometimes the main WiiU menu itself takes ages to load, but Nintendo promised that an update is coming this june/july to fix that.

Wasn't too crazy about it at first but after I heard about Mario Kart Wii U and the new Yoshi's Island I totally want one. Prolly be a while before I get one since it doesn't have many games for it yet.

It has been discovered that the system isn't *quite* as powerful as hoped, but going by the recent Pikmin 3 screenshots, it's still good enough. Cool

It's not selling well. Judge yourself.

I think the lack of great Nintendo titles is causing this. New Super Mario BROS U is fine, but it's the 4th like that in a few years. Pikmin 3, Rayman and Monster Hunter tri Ultimate can help in the different territories, but until a new Mario Kart, Smash BROS or Mario 3D comes out I don't expect the WiiU to sell well.

EDIT: Oh, wow. Rayman has been delayed to September.

For the sole reason of going multiplat.

Rayman Legends was one of the system's early big exclusives. It was going to showcase the visuals and the gamepad play. A huge loss.

The Wii U is selling decent numbers everywhere except the UK.

It's a good system, but the lack of a killer app (a.k.a. "system seller" - a Halo, SSB, Gran Turismo, Half Life, Pokemon, etc.) is hurting. Pikmin 3, along with the upcoming Monster Hunter and Lego City titles should help keep it afloat until E3. They'll then have to go all-out with major announcements. The first SSB U/3DS screens are set to be shown there.

WiiU is the same as the 3DS from my perspective: Impressive hardware that's not worth buying because no one is developing for it. Probably the only thing that would make me want one at this point is Retro doing another Metroid Prime (and even then, pretty much everyone who worked on those games is gone now, so it'd be like Rare making a new Bond game, though probably not as bad).

One somewhat longer-term advantage is that it looks like Nintendo consoles may be the only consoles with resellable software.

Between Sony's disk locking and MS's recent declaration you'll require a constant internet connection for (among other things) DRM, the resale market isn't looking good.

Totally agree though. There isn't a really killer game yet to make the console. You're looking at a lot of people that would be 'upgrading', and without something really to bite at that's going to be a slow process.

As for 3DS, check out the demos for the newest Fire Emblem. It's touting a lot of things that should have been strung together a long time ago.

You're thinking of the PS Vita. There are tons of good games available for the 3DS.

Retro hasn't made a bad game yet, so don't count them out. Their next game is possibly the biggest secret in the industry.

Gonna bump this topic instead of making another.

So I have bought myself the WiiU Deluxe set for my birthday. Since it is my birthday very soon and I got enough money so I decided to treat my self for a WiiU. Anyway so far for one full day playing this system. I love it so far. Everything that came with it is amazing. Plus can't go wrong with the free game that comes with the Deluxe set. It is called Nintendo World. Of course knowing me. I could not just buy a WiiU and call it good. I had to buy New Super Mario Bros U because of my love for mario. And I am loving how Mario looks amazing in 1080P. I will also admit the controller pad itself took some getting used to. But it feels comfortable in my hands. Now one thing that really kinda bother me was the whole update took entire hour to even update the WiiU itself. But yeah I love how when I ported my entire Wii Data into my WiiU that Pikmin was carrying the Data from the Wii to the WiiU which was awesome. Anyway I got 2 games for my collection so far. And thinking of buying another game in a month or so. So if anyone here know of some good games worth buying for the WiiU. I will check it out then.

I haven't played the WiiU but I have read impresions about some of its games:

-ZombiU takes full use of the WiiUpad and it's the first game in a few years that can be call a Survival horror. At least that's what they say Razz

-Monster Hunter tri Ultimate. I loved the Wii version a lot, probably the last game that I was able to play for hours. The WiiU version has a lot more content so you'll be playing hundreds of hours with this game. And playing it online with other people is even better.
But it's a game that not everybody likes, so if there's some kind of demo to download you should try it first.

Sadly New Super Mario Bros WiiU doesn't display native 1080p, it's 720p rescaled. I don't know why, curse lazy Nintendo!

I'm not expecting any graphically impressive 1080p games on this system. If Nintendo themselves couldn't pull it off for a game as graphically simplistic as New Super Mario Bros., I don't have confidence in anyone doing it with something more detailed. (1080/720 is a minor issue compared to framerate, anyway. Are WiiU games still running at the console standard 30 fps?)

I'm finally interested in one game for this: The Director's Cut of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I consider that to be the best game I've played in over a decade, so I'm really curious what they do with it, if they can really make it better. I was one of the few with no real complaints about the boss fights, so I hope whatever alternate stuff they do for those doesn't feel tacked on. I'm also hesitant about the grenade returning mechanic being put on the gamepad, seems like something that could easily be mapped to a button instead.
