So they are very SERIOUS about using a black guy for the next Bond. I would only accept ONE man for the job that they want really bad because he is full BRITISH and is like a black Pierce Brosnan . It will be a MAJOR adjustment but anyway here is what he looks like:

Looks more like Felix to me! I'd like to see a bond who is more like Flammings original conception. It's the kind of thing that the studio really needs to think seriously about least they end up with another Lazenby - but they'll never listen to what we think, and will probably cast some American

i have nothing against them, really, but it would take a while to get used to blackbond =D still, it would be a great refreshing concept.
I agree with mrKane. A bond is not an amusing guy,nor a public entertainer(like roger moore). A bond is a guy who would hit your face when you say something wrong. Timothy was good at this, he's the most 'dangerous' bond, and this man would do a good job too, i think. Connery combined both the dangerous look and the charm.

Nah I don't care much for a black bond idea. It would be great if either Sean Connery or George Lazenby came back to reprise the role. Only thing is it atleast have their hair dyed a little so it's not so white. Talking Pierce Brosnan into coming back for another film might not be bad either.

Black Bond.....? Ok hold a second. Why would they need a black Bond? We been doing perfectly fine with a white Bond. I am not racist so don't get me wrong, but I just feel this would be wrong and a disgrace to the Bond films in my personal opinion. Bond has always been white since day one. And all these years as well. If they wanted a black Bond. They should of made one back when they made the second Bond film. And then keep switching off on and off.

I agree that more black actors should be given starring roles in films (and there should be more black comedians on TV), as black people do seem to be ignored as far as starring roles are concerned, but I don't think that Bond should be black, as he is a (admittedly fictional) white man, it's fundamental to his character Not that if he was black he'd necessarily be any different, but he never faced racism or any difficulty in posing as a member of a white criminal organisation in the books, because he was white, and if you change his colour (or gender) then you are altering something that, whilst not vital, is still a part of the traditional Bond.

In a film (or book, TV program, etc) you shouldn't change the colour of someone's skin, or their gender, or anything else that's fixed about them, whether they are fictional or real, good or bad. Bruce Wayne, Lex Luther, Sherlock Holmes, Queen Victoria, Elvis Presely, Adolph Hitler, Florence Nightingale, Mr Bean, etc, are white and should remain white (and whichever gender they are) and should not be portrayed otherwise, as it's part of what they are (their experiences would be different to some degree if they were a different colour or gender, and so by altering these attributes you lessen the validity of their past, real or fictional, which lessens the character themselves).

The same with Mohammed Ali, Charles Richard Drew, Spawn, Martin Luthor King, Richard Prior, Blade, Nelson Mandella, Shirley Bassey, etc (to my shame, I've just realised I can't name one woman who is famour for anything other than music/film/TV work). They are all black, and shouldn't be portrayed as white.

Instead of making Bond black, we should make more films (by all means, Bond like films, as they are popular), with black stars. And (to me, at least) there have been very few good comedy films in the past couple of decades, and I'd love to see some good old fashioned (i.e. no American 'teenagers' played by thirty year old actors making jokes about anal sex) comedies, some good action films without the cartoon physics we get nowadays (i.e. a gun only holds seven bullets, a knife wound bleeds continuously and if not dealt with can prove fatal, if you're losing a fight you don't suddenly gain 200% of your energy and fighting ability and knock out your four attackers) and with good plots and dialogue. And some good, intelligent science fiction films, where the emphasis is on the story and ideas, and not on the CGI or the "this movie cost $500m to make" budget. And in some of these film, have white stars, in others have black, in others have asian (and not exclusively, of course, the world is multi-culteral, especially the UK and USA, where most English speaking films are made), so instead of having mostly white male stars, with a white female star (who so often plays the world's greatest expert in some branch of science, which is the plot device for her going with the otherwise all-male research team, despite her being too young to have graduated college) mix up the colour and gender a bit.

I mean, Cloud Atlas (an *excellent* film, by the way), would have been just as good if all of the stars were black and/or female. Prometheus would have been just as good regardless of the colour or gender of the stars. Colour (and gender) is relevant to existing characters, but when creating new characters (as in Cloud Atlas or Prometheus) then unless colour or gender is a plot issue, then they should certainly be far more varied in their choice of actors.

They've done this to other characters in the past. Nick Fury, Green Lantern, Felix Leiter, and Kingpin, to name a few. It's always weird when you're used to a person being one skin tone, then seeing them totally different in a new film or comic book. White to white, or black to black, is one thing. Completely transforming their race is another.

Why not just make another Bond film with a black villain? How many has their really been in the past? I can only think of Live and Let Die. And that was basically a blaxploitation film. They should easily be able to come up with something better than that idea, nowadays. Or could they?...

I think some fictional characters should be what they are, not just change them for the sake of change and new stuff.

Actually, I think Gandalf could be played by someone who was black, as (as far as I can remember) Gandalf was never described in the books as being white, was he? Bond has to be white, as even if he wasn't described as such in the books (I can't remember), he clearly suffered no racism from whites (and this was in the 50s and 60s, in the books, when he certainly would have if he were black) and manages to pose very successfully as different members of various countries who's ruling classes were almost exclusively white.

But the humans in J. R. R. Tolken's books could be black (some or all of them), unless they are specifically described as being white, and hopefully the predjudice over skin colour would be non-existent in Tolken's universe, as it is in Red Dwarf or the Harry Potter universe.

As someone else said, racial stereotypes are very stupid, especially since America's top rapper is white, and the top golfer is black!
