Would have been great to get a stack of those back then and scalp them nowadays. It's idiotic how much sealed carts sell for. |
I remember walking into Gamestop with my father and there would be this HUMONGOUS crate of used N64 carts. The price tags are still on a lot that we purchased from there. 1 - 2 dollars. No scratches, nothing. Just people not liking the game and returning it. Oh the days. _________________

Ah, the N64, well , I have to say that it is my favourite console.
I got mine when I was pretty young, and actually my father got one.
He worked at kind of technican company and via via he got the N64 from someone.
I first played supermario64. And oh my god, I walked around and in peach's castle for hours, before i realized I had to jump into a painting
Next, mario kart, and smash bros. Damn fun. Played Zelda, but I still was too young to really appreciate that game. Also, I played dk64 (damn beautiful graphics!), wave race, snowboard 1080, rayman 2, conker's bad fur day .All those games where so great...and then follows a black hole. I can't remember anymore what happened exactly, but my N64 and games disappeared. I cried for it so long, and my father got an emulator and got all my games back. But some new ones where there too. Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. I played Goldeneye, found it so cool, played it for ever. Still play it. Work with it now. PD never did much too me, I am sorry to say, but I actually didn't like that game. please don't hate me for that.
N64 was the best. just the best, no other console left so much memories |

I'm the first person in my own family household to beat games first on whichever we owned.
I switched to the other car in rad racer. I could speculate certain skip points in games. Vases in Mario 2. Pipes in Mario 3. And many other games since then.
I did well at GE Multi. My partner in the same round got a lemming award and double kill while on teams.
At the end he was completely enthralled to get the lemming award stating he had no idea what it is.
I have videos on youtube in my sig too. _________________ A.K.A. Greatermaxim on youtube.

Christmas is around the corner (although it's already Christmas in some places since November, hehe) and I know most of us has some Christmas-N64-related stories. I'll start with my first Christmas with a N64 at home.
It was late 1997. I had the console since July and owned Mario 64 and ISS64 by that time. Some of my friends in school also had the N64, so I was able to play other games such as Wave Race 64 and Mario Kart 64.
I have a younger brother, so we always looked for games with multiplayer modes so we could play together. Mario Kart 64 was a lot of fun, so we were interested in it. Later we learned about Diddy Kong Racing. At first I read about it in a magazine and the only thing that took my atention was that in 3P mode, the 4P screen wouldn't be black but have a camera following the race. But after that ,a promo tape from the Nintendo Club arrived home and the clip about Diddy Kong Racing sold us the game, hehe.
So the day came and we spend almost all of it playing DKR. I remember we beat the triceratops boss for the first time, met the octopus boss and arrived to the fourth world and found all 4 keys. Our parents were fed up with us because we did nothing than playing, so they kicked us from home to play with some friends, hehe. I took the cartridge to a friend's house to show it to him. That friend got GoldenEye as present.
So after showing the games, we spent the rest of the evening playing 3P Goldeneye multi. I remember we played in Bunker and got lost all the time, hehe, the radar didn't help at all. It was a great concidence that we watched the GoldenEye movie a few days earlier on TV, because we were able to see how close was the game in some scenes.
So after playing for hours, the next day I got very sick (I don't remember if I had fever, but I vomited a lot :S). I spend all day in the bed, listening to DKR music while my brother played in the other room. Arg, just listening to the music worsened the vomits, so that's why I don't like the music in DKR very much, hehe.
I have more stories with Ocarina of Time in 1998/99, Jet Force Gemni in 1999/00 and Smash BROS 64 in 2000/01. But I'll keep those for the next years.
So what happened the first Christmas with your N64? What games did you get? |

Well I got Quick story. I used to play the N64 on the floor laying down.
I was playing Cruisin World with my sister and out of no were the Christmas tree fell on me hitting my back. Some decorations broke on contact I remember I was still playing the game as if nothing happened. I did pause though when my mom came. _________________ www.youtube.com/gamerrey23 |

I got my N64 probably in 1998 or 1999, and the games I got with it were Mario 64, Goldeneye, and Vigilante 8. Been years since I've touched V8 but I seem to recall enjoying playing it.
I never bought another console system after that. Only other system I bought was a Game Boy Advance. |

I realize how serious I take games. Jet Force Gemini, Super Smash, Ogre Battle, Mario Kart, Mario 64, GE, PD, and others. The hilarity came from multi moments that I don't remember clearly anymore.
My focus is on games with depth and some customability. I don't like modifying something that isn't mine. Maybe we're all a little guilty of that somehow. _________________ A.K.A. Greatermaxim on youtube.

If I remember correctly, I received SM64 and Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire along with my N64 on Christmas. I have a picture of me holding the box somewhere. It actually took a while before I'd gotten GoldenEye. A friend had it first, and we played it fairly often. And even though the game on its own was great fun, it wasn't until I started fooling around with GameShark that the magic really began. In all honesty, if I had never owned that wonderful cheating device, my love of GE007 would have likely faded years ago. Just be some nostalgia of my childhood, and not a passion that was stayed with me for nearly half of my existence. Pretty crazy, when you think about it. _________________

Blockbuster rental shops rocked my world.. also had my Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey around release.. WCW NWO Revenge @ launch..
especially owned Mario Tennis since its launch, and O-M-G ! I JUST figured out yesterday on its wiki, there's a whopping SEVEN shots you can make, all with only just the A and B buttons
When my folks got me N64 I think in its first week they also got me Star Fox 64, man awh man, nothing holds a candle to that game. UBER design control slick silky feel and mindmelting visuals tunes THE DAMN BOSS(ES) OMG I give it a 10 on every freaking scale. Only game I had for a whiiiiiile then too
I even still got three official promo VHS tapes of Star Fox 64, Diddy Kong Racing (amazing but BITCHIN game), and BanjoKazooie 1.. GOLD !!! The world was hoh so humble real and genius then

I've owned three 64's in my life. I've done my best with others to determine the strength of the game. I hate to think truth can dissapoint people but that's life.
I've also owned 6 controllers with 5 remaining. I've had this all this time because I alternated the use of them.
But whatever game I own I can get 90% through the original adventure in terms of items. Can beat final bosses/missions with practice obviously.
Unless it's uber impossible like DLTK modes and stuff with games, then I'm happy to be strategically self-sufficient. _________________ A.K.A. Greatermaxim on youtube.
