This was mentioned earlier, but I'm really not sure about those overly saturated yellow walls in the institute. Obviously you're doing a good job and it looks great, but I hope cosmetically there will be some changes (I realize that you've had to start from scratch.) I only bring this up again because it was not addressed by you in an earlier post. _________________

in case anyone is interested, I have been making the magsec for the project. What do you all think?
Update: added the bolt!
Work in progress, of course
Criticism is welcome.

The Magsec and Falcon were always my favourite weapons in the game - they were nice to use, and they looked formidable (plus I was just really good with them for whatever reason). The thing that I often wondered about with the Magsec is just how much more it'd hurt to pistol whip someone with that chunky front end in comparison with the falcon
Don't be afraid to "modernize" the weapon and get creative with the designs! I'm loving watching the work in progress. _________________ No Mr. Bond, I expect you to be re-coded! |

I honestly don't like the brick texture, it doesn't fit. But the colors are fine, if you can get a new pattern I think it will look great.
Can't you recover the textures from your first attempt? Those looked perfect:

Making textures from scratch is harder than it looks. So I appreciate the effort you are putting into this. |

My answer is not influenced by Sogun's comment but I must also agree that I am not a fan of the brick texture. The old ones were indeed perfect, shame they're lost. _________________

I think the wall textures now look much better. Your renditions to the institute are nice as well and seem small enough to not take away the entire feel of the place. _________________

And I'll be the black sheep here again saying: don't be afraid to get creative! The guys at Marathon: Resurrection did it, and it really worked out for them. You're dealing with a new engine and new system and some things just won't "fit" the same - so if there's a texture/feature already in the game that's similar, feel free to use it If anything it'll be like adding mustard...and I do like mustard! _________________ No Mr. Bond, I expect you to be re-coded! |

After much thinking and seeing the situation itself, we decided that we will change the engine, starting today, we will use the Unreal Engine 4!
Why?
First the CryEngine was beginning to give us a lot of headaches, their documentation is poor and has many limitations (yes).
Everything was disclosed about the project so far (apart from the textures and models) is lost in space-time.
I hope for your understanding!
(We promise it will not turn a Perfect Dark Forever!) |
