All64inthedark, have you seen the gun position values in PerfectGold?
they are actually in Centimeters and your drawing is spot on
Some guns are held at the correct distance, but most are held 'retarded'.

I forgot what we did in GF... I remember assigning them 'real' distances based on my arm, however they were small on-screen (guns are also 1.5x bigger than real, so they would have looked even smaller had they been real sizes) and pistols revealed the fact that only the hand and wrist are drawn... so they were just floating there.

I love the 'Doom' position hahaha

The only time a gun should center on-screen is when aiming with iron-sights/scope. With that, Pistols should not get bigger, rifles should but the 'head' should also move to the right slightly.
COD forgets this last point and instead moves the rifle to the center which means that your guy has just moved his feet left in reality. dont stand near clifs hahaha

Well, just be careful how far forward you move certain weapons. You may find that your arms are a little shorter than they should be, and some animations (reloading or melee attacks) will end up showing off that fact.
