Yeah, it can lag much, but there is a thing that can lower it though.
What you can do to make it lag less is:
Finding a server for everyone, It will be hard for Europe and West Coast USA players, so finding a server that's hosted on the very east coast is a good idea.
It's very tricky to find a server very playable for eveyone. We can test if you want to.
Ping spoofing:
If your Kaillera client supports that, do so. It's recommended to make the ping higher if you usually have low ping on the server so you have more input lag on the controller instead of lagging the whole emulator what usually happens. It isn't that hard to play with like 8 frame delay.
This is actually the best thing you can do to reduce the lag.

I obviously do not know the IP but I find a good Unknown server. All times I have played there, it has been smooth.

Ok, just found some servers that we could play on.
Unkown serv0r: 209.159.150.77:27888
Demon Cat: 216.52.143.190:27888
Smash FU: 204.62.14.45:27888
El baul de los recuerdos: 192.99.151.48:27888
On these servers (Except for Demon Cat) I have a standard ping above 80 but under 100.
So I think that's good enough.
Unknown Serv0r is hosted at an unknown location.
Demon Cat is hosted in Chicago.
Smash FU is hosted in New York.
El baul de los recurdos is hosted in Canada.
Demon Cat may or may not not work for me. I have always over 100 ping there as standard. So, Demon Cat is the last choice if it's gone bad.
We can do some tests to see how it goes on these servers.
