So, after download and "installing" the most recent (I believe most) recent version of this editor, The program doesn't want to start. Clicking on the .exe first gives me the error saying d3dx9_30.dll is missing from my computer. then an error of the program was unable to start correctly.
why is this error appearing now?
Is it because of windows 10? |

Windows 10 comes with DX12, you need to install the runtime library for DX9c.
With 10 in particular, you also need to use the d3dx9_30.dll provided within the Editor directory, its named d3dx9_30_Use_If_required.dll and so needs to be renamed back.
Type into Cortana DirectX9c download and she should take you to the download page.
Also make sure that Visual C 2008 Runtime (msvcr90.dll) is installed.
I have run in 10 with no problems, so it should work.
Using DX9 and VS2008 allows faster editor and the widest range of compatability from 98-10.
If DX12 was used you would suddenly cut-off all users below win10.

That was it! the visual C 2008 runtime, and renaming the d3dx9_30.dll
I tried downloading directx9c, but upon start-up it said I'd have t be running oS of win98 or xp. The editor should work without this one right? |

You must of downloaded the wrong thing for directx, cause I've never seen that error before. Usually it says "You have a newer version of DirectX installed."
Double check that you are downloading this one here.
