We should have some pictures to share soon, showing off the missions in progress. Each one is going well, and all have fully functional objectives. It's actually going better than I first imagined, which goes to show how well we've advanced with Perfect Dark editing. | *
High five !
Wow, fully functionnal objectives. Impressive.
True, I'm very happy with the way the work done on GE was followed on PD since I like it way better for everything it added to the engine.
The only annoying issue I meet on it is limited textures you can add at the end of rom. |

I've been a voice actor in the past, although my rig blew up (literally) so I'm left with very simple equipment. I also know a few other male and female actors who have been involved in animated things we've done in the past. Setup wouldn't be good, and we're all pretty rusty, but I'd probably be able to get a crew together to assist. _________________ No Mr. Bond, I expect you to be re-coded! |

I'll be away for about a week, but will be able to access the message board on my tablet during that time. When I return, I promise to get some pics up of the missions in progress. I'm also hoping for some good news soon on the animations.
There are still hurdles to clear, but each step closer knocks one of them over. And thankfully this isn't a real version of the sport I am talking about, or otherwise we'd be getting a lot of penalties for touching them in the first place!
MRKane: if you guys ever get a chance to record some samples, I would certainly be up for hearing them. |

Many of the quotes can be ripped from the movie, some require work to remove loud BG noise, but most are pretty good to take straight.
What is everyone elses thoughts on the voices?

Should be hard to come up with good ideas of speaches to add to the game. PD made it very simple and fast, so it is a good thing I think.
I think that the missions are very simply done and actually, I have trouble imagining speach in most of them, especially the later one.
Would be cool to contact David Doak and ask him if he can record his sentence when you find him in facility, haha. |

hahah, that would be funny, he would probably be up for it if someone found out how to contact him, Im sure he must be on social media somewhere... anyone have twitter?
Hahaha, Twitter's @DoctorDavidDoak... NSFW
I was looking at sound cancelation and as I have the OST I was looking to see if I can cancel that out where it is heard in quotes.
After that its occasional extra sound effects, which might fit ok anyway.

Funny you should mention sound cancellation and cleaning - I did notice that many of the quotes in the movie didn't have many other sounds running through them, and while my crew could have a crack at doing extra dialogue you just can't beat the original and any of my crew would only be an imitation as we're not British...and we're not in our late 40s as Brosnan was when he acted as bond! _________________ No Mr. Bond, I expect you to be re-coded! |

I'd rather not use recordings from the film, and for two reasons. The first is that we don't have permission. Sure, we don't have permission to do this mod period, but when it comes to taking voices of well known actors and using them without their consent, that makes me nervous. The other reason, and possibly even bigger one, is that dialogue in the film won't match the game. Bond talking with Mishkin? In the cells with Natalya? In the interrogation room in Archives? Even if we did use film recordings, we would have to alter game text to match, and get new recordings for things not covered in the movie. Mixing original actor and different voice actor for the same character... Not a good pairing.
Heh, don't worry about new Bond talk during missions. I have that covered extensively. |

Thanks for the links! I will def consider creating an account to them when we get far enough into the project for voices.
Eek, that link wasn't too family friendly...
Edited post to remove link. That's a bad Trevor! |

Actually a "spin" on the movie as a game...I'm now wondering what Wreck would sound like as bond! Dunno about anyone else but frequently we've found the the passion towards the project maketh the actor, therefore I conclude that my case is sound.
Make it so number one! _________________ No Mr. Bond, I expect you to be re-coded! |

A Russian grunt, maybe.. Unless people think my accent sucks, of course. But as James Bond? I don't think that's the best call, heh. He'll no doubt be the hardest to cast, unless we get incredibly lucky. An actor on a comedy show years ago did a convincing Brosnan Bond, so it isn't an impossibility.
Little update: I am planning on putting the proper Runway docking bay area at the end of Facility. The conveyor belt will end as it does normally, but now featuring the roller door at the end of it. The other area will have the appropriate doors and metal canisters there. Gives much better continuity between the two missions.
I would also like to maybe adjust the train located at the end of Depot to be the real one. It was always odd that Depot's train was about half the size. It may require significant changes to the background to get it to fit, though.
It may also be nice to place an elevator at the starting area of Cradle. Bit strange that it was how Bond got up there, but no sign of a lift existed. You would still start outside it, but could open up the doors to go inside. |
