Something I'm curious about. Not sure if it's been answered.
You know how in the game there's probably about 20 different guard faces? And every time you fire up a level it chooses one predetermined set of five faces?
You guys are remaking the game or improving it or sometging. Would it be possible to have the game, rather than generate just five guard faces a game, generate all of them, and randomly assign them throughout the guards? |

The main reason why Rare did that was to cut down on the number of models and textures loaded in at one time. If they allowed, let's say even ten different heads to be randomly loaded when the level begins, the memory would need to be boosted. Some missions, like Frigate already push very hard, and can easily be overloaded by adding any extra models or textures.
With the expansion pak memory mod for GoldenEye (available on the Vault site), it may be able to support having a greater variety of heads. PD might be fine as-is, but I don't know if anyone has tried to push it as hard as GE. |
