Tapping will give you bursts with the KF7 and AR-33. You have to aim so it shoots just once, doing so won't make all the guards to come. The throwing knives are hidden under the grid to the right when you come out of your cell, use your magnet watch there to pick them up.

The throwing knives can be helpful. It's also good to make use of the windowed doors. You can use them to wait for guards to come by. Either fire individual rounds through the window, or wait until they turn their back. When they aren't looking in your direction, open the door, run behind them, and chop them down. There are quite a few patrolling guards, so this can take awhile. Don't be afraid to retreat, or go into a room and close the doors behind you. But if you are cautious with your firing (single shots holding the aim button), take cover behind doors, and avoid being seen as much as possible, you'll find success. It is one of the hardest, definitely. I'd say more so than Aztec, which is over exaggerated, once you get the patterns and enemy positions figured out. You might want to bang your head the first thirty to fifty attempts, though. Razz

Even with their back turned, the instant I open the doors, they turn around and start shooting. And even if they don't hit me, it attracts other guards. Also, it seems that anytime a guard is visible, there's another guard somewhere nearby looking at him, either from a connecting tunnel, or another guard opens a door allowing more guards to see me. No matter how long I wait, it's never just one guard by himself. And even if they were, attacking them automatically summons more guards. Sad

OK, I managed to get through the level by sniping all/most of the guards. Maybe it's easier to do single shots with the controller, but with a mouse, it was extremely difficult to only fire a single shot. About 9 times out of 10, it would fire a minimum of two shots. I didn't use the knives because I want to get through the whole game without using any outside help and after looking in the grate, I knew that I would never have found them on my own.

Call me a wimp, but there's no way I would ever complete this game without save states. I wouldn't have the patience to have to start the level over every time I screwed up.

Anyway, I'm no longer stuck, so let's get back to talking about mouse injector. I apologize for hijacking the thread.

Not a problem Rekrul :)

Early test - only supports perfect dark right now, goldeneye support will be added soon. Right now input is captured regardless if the emulator window is focused, this will be fixed. Place plugin within plugins folder https://files.catbox.moe/4kl6u6.zip

I only found the knives because the watch magnet attract was still in use after walking out of the cell. All of a sudden they were "picked up" out of nowhere. Shortly after I spotted them in the bottom of that drain grate. Neat little bonus, which is easily missed.

Now we're back on topic! Razz

Hey folks. First off all. I have to say, WOW! My last attempt at playing Perfect Dark with an Emulator and trying to use a mouse was 5 years ago. It was an ok experience. I had to use a PS3 controller to play. It wasn't very reliable, and KB/M didn't really work well. I have now mapped out the controls to my liking, and it's amazing with the Mouse Injector.

However, there is only ONE problem! The Camspy doesn't work! Well, it does, but the actual view from the Camspy goes black! Not the entire screen. I can still see the display around the Camspy. But the circular view is black. It makes it almost impossible to play the G5 Building level and finish it.

Is there any work currently being done to fix the problem? I have tried ALL video plugins. And Glide seems to be the best. The other ones have problems. The Sky on the Carrington Villa level is missing with the other ones, and guns such as the Mauler have broken effects. Is there perhaps one setting which I have overlooked which actually fixes the Camspy problem?

Glide looks and runs perfectly, and I think the only problem is a light blue line at the top of the screen, which isn't bad. Buffer Emulation must be turned off in order for the game to run, also; just to add. Otherwise it runs at about... 5 frames a second? It's that bad.

Otherwise, totally awesome playing it. I just wish the darn Camspy and variants would be able to let you see from their perspective! GAH! But WHAT an improvement over the last 5 years.

And my system, in case someone asks:

i5-6500, 8GB DDR4 2133MHz, GTX 960 SSC 4GB.

Jabo 1.6.1 does show the camspy without any distortion. I haven't had the problems with glide that you described, try matching my settings and see if that helps.

Odd, I can't seem to access the same menu as you. Doesn't have the same options. And I did switch the video plugin to Jabo 1.6.1. The Camspy is working, now. But there's a black bar on the bottom of the screen now. And effects that I've mentioned before aren't working again, like the Mauler charged shot. And the walls have black parts to them now. Odd.

It's accessed by turning on advance emulation options within glide64.

Oh, my bad, I thought you were still talking about Jabo 1.6.1. Hmm, yeah. It's still not the same. Usually, there's a place to tick off/on advanced settings, but not for GLideN64. I'm using GLideN64 rev.f17c716 to be specific. The video settings for the one I'm using look far more in-depth than the one in the screenshot you posted.

Your system should run Glide64 "Final" perfectly, which IMO is the best plugin to play PD on since everything but the menu fade effect works. GlideN64 is great, but has some issues for both GE and PD right now. For example in GE, it won't render the watch green tint properly over the guns, and in PD the laser for the Falcon 2 is broken.
As long as you have "Read every frame (Slow!)" disabled in advanced emulation settings, Glide64 should run fine. AKA default settings I believe.

I played around with it for a bit and I can say that it works perfectly on my end, great work!

Just tried the latest bundle, which includes the plugin, and it seems to work perfectly. I breezed through the archives level, and just rage-quite the next one where you have can either get shot to death on foot or be blown up in the tank while wandering the streets aimlessly while a timer counts down. Have I ever mentioned how much I absolutely &*%@#$! HATE timed levels? I've never seen such an uneven game in my life. One level will be ridiculously easy and the next one makes me want to put my fist through the screen in frustration!

I tried Glide 64 and it's GREAT! But the little imperfections bother me so much... is it REALLY "final"?

There's an uneven cloaking effect on the Mauler when you cloak while it's charged. And yes, the transparent menus don't work, unfortunately.

Any chance this will get fixed? But i just may be able to fix it with the right settings. It's on default right now so it's easy to go back to where i was. No need to remember any settings.

Phew...

EDIT: And yeah. I just have to say, you folks who have done work on this. You're awesome! I'd totally endorse you, but since i'm in college right now and broke AF... that's not an option. Razz
