I'm not very familiar with the N64 dev scene - this was before I was born Rekrul wrote: | BTW, I've noticed that I still sometimes have to press the 4 key more than once to activate the mouse injector. Sometimes it works on the first try, sometimes I have to press it twice. Not really a big deal, I just thought I'd mention it. | While hacking up manymouse to support keyboard input I ignored checking race condition for keydown messages. Compiling with optimization [O3] hid it but it would sometimes come back. I fixed it so try the latest version and see if it's better
I should find a better host |

I've been playing around NVIDIA Surround and the emulator won't recognize any keyboard or mouse input if it's enabled (Except for clicks and the mousewheel), this also happens with N-Rage so maybe this issue is with 1964 itself.
It was just for a test to see how it'd look with ultrawide setups and I never play with it as it's impossible with two screens (The crosshair is in the gap between both), but I figured it may be worth mentioning.
Here the results, if you're curious.
As for the host, I prefer MEGA. The only downside with MEGA I find is that you can't download from mobile if you don't get their app, but for the rest I really like it. _________________ You can't win.

Mediafire flagged the emulator as a trojan, as did archive.org and sourceforge. I have tried mega I found it okay but sometimes the files would be removed randomly. I contacted support concerning this issue and only response I received was archive.org - they have to manually approve every update as their system flagged it as a virus - so that isn't going to work |

If you put it in a 7-zip archive with a password it will encrypt the contents making detection of anything inside impossible. I know it's an extra hassle but you'll get better compression and you can make the password something stupid like "1964". You can put the password in the filename, like "1964 Carnivorous Edition - Password is 1964.7z".
As for hosts, I do like Mega a lot, but it's a far cry from it's predecessor, Megaupload, which was a beautiful thing. Free users could upload and download files up to 2 GB and there essentially was no download limit (that I ever hit) in either speed or data and files lasted forever. It really sucked when it was killed. For small files I use Mediafire because it's fewer clicks for the downloader.
Also I noticed the PD save is technically not 100% because if you look at the Combat Simulator challenges, many of them are missing stars. |

Is there a way to alter the EEPROM file to add what was changed to unlock the extra stars in Combat Simulator? I'd rather not swap the file and lose my configuration. |

I'd like to get a dedicated host instead of mirroring off archive.org - if there is a host which doesn't flag uploads deuxsonic wrote: | Is there a way to alter the EEPROM file to add what was changed to unlock the extra stars in Combat Simulator? This will work if you are okay with losing everything on your controller pak. Extract the latest 1964 to whatever directory. Start PD and in the profile menu press left\right. Go to the menu item copy single player agent file. Copy Dark stored on the game pak and save it to the controller pak. When it's copied close the emulator - copy Perfect Dark-usa.m0 and move it to your used 1964 emulator directory. The same menu can be used to delete your agent file & copy the one from the memory pak |

Hi Carnivorous, I just wanted to say thank you for making this. This makes PD way more satisfying than the original or even the XBLA remaster.
I was wondering what interest would it take for you to release a similar injector for the Timesplitters series? |

Thank you - I'd like to rewrite the TS mouse injector, but do it properly using rawinput and direct memory injection. It depends on the complexity of each emulator [dolphin\pcsx2] and the way they store their memory. Last time I attempted - dolphin was unstable when memory was altered and pcsx2 was fine with memory injection. I might prefer making it for pcsx2 because the ps2 versions of ts have online capabilities |

Something I did on my end that you might do is go through the different config files and remove entries for games that aren't targeted by this 1964 distribution to make the config files and the whole package sleeker and make it easier to go into them to adjust things. As you've said in the first post, this targets just 2 games and there are better emulators for anything else. I wanted to see how much I could cut and I got it pretty lean to where the whole install is just 19 files, 17 if you ignore the shader cache files it creates if you have that enabled. Obviously you wouldn't be able to cut it down that much (I got rid of plug-ins that were not in use and DLLs that weren't required because the system already had them or the plug-ins that relied on them were removed). I also do kind of like the idea of having the emulator store settings in an INI like the plug-ins for the same ease of editing and portability of the whole package once it's set up.
Another idea is having it where once the ROMs are dropped into place, they can be given standardized names and shortcuts can be automatically generated to go straight into a game since creating the shortcuts with parameters seems tricky for some. I've tried to make that as quick and transparent as I could so they feel the most like PC games. I guess if you tinkered a lot with settings and switching windows and whatnot this wouldn't be ideal but once I get the settings the way I want them I try to skip past that stuff. |

That's pretty neat, I *think* the only plugin that uses registry is Jabo. I am currently removing all registry functionality to 1964 so it can be portable and rewriting a new config system. I think this will solve the save folder issue with ! characters [not sure yet too early to tell]. I completely agree with Rekrul's statement about registry, ini files are always a better alternative so this will be a most welcome improvement to 1964

I like that idea, something like right clicking the rom within the rom list to bring up a shortcut wizard would be cool. I will investigate the feature
Shoutouts to wreck for stickying the thread

Other things I can think of would be removing things from 1964's interface that are now hard-coded, for example whether or not RSP is used since it is determined automatically. It would be largely superficial changes for settings that are no longer needed or shouldn't be changed by the user and possibly branding the emulator itself like "GE-PD" so it isn't treated like a general emulator which would help with the "can I use this to play X" questions. Basically the end result would be things to make it "the GE/PD playing emulator" since it's not standard 1964 but a fork of an old version that is increasingly customized to benefit the 2 games it is being further developed for.
Are there dependencies for compiling this from source? I have a copy of VC++ 6 so I can help you out if you want.
One more thing: is it possible to put in a master volume option? Adjusting the volume in GoldenEye only affects when you're actually in a mission and plays at max volume the rest of the time. |
