I don't think the AA patch is working.

Either way, wow. It was so sharp on my CRT! A bit laggy, but what a beauty.

Should actually be fixed now, sorry about that. I got rid of the game masking out those bits no matter what.

Try it again, thanks.

OK guys, thanks to Trevor and my tireless work - we have fixed GoldenEye so it now supports an even higher resolution than the previous 640 x 240p patch. It's now 640 x 480i!!! This looks STUNNING!!!!

The video doesn't do it justice of how crisp it is.

I'll have to try out the newest patch, but I am sure it would look even better on an actual CRT television. Those text positions could benefit from some adjusting, since the larger the resolution, the smaller and worse they seem to become. Not a huge deal, but would make the patch feel a bit more official.

I'll see if I can fix up the text for a later patch, but it looks too good not to release as is for now.

It almost looks like an emulator on a CRT! I wish the frame rate was a little better, idk how much the 8 Meg has already been pushed.

Set the game for letterbox or cinema view and you get some more framerate. It sure looks awesome though. If only N64 had double the fillrate it has. Smile

Goldfinger 64 already struggles with playability at low resolution in many places. Those huge maps are hard on the machine.

Pav's patch isn't too bad at all on GF 64. It's the 330i hack with No AA. I don't notice much of a difference in frame rate, even on his GE 007 patch. But, I'd still like to try your cinema view suggestion, because I am a sucker for the higher resolution =P

But I agree, GF 64 certainly pushed the console to it's limits.

Patched from GEvault last night . 0mG

And over S-Vid the 480i is so razor sharp on my boobtube , ye can see why it wasn't a thing though it bring the N64 to its knees

480i with anti-aliasing disabled I thought was close to the stock rom , until enemies got to me and chugs again D:

I hit reset and my 64drive bootup was junked up , better use power off/on instead l0l

I wonder what Perfect Dark's Hi-Res mode is ? Sorry I forget

Thanks very much for this technical breakthrough !

Perfect Dark appears to use a progressive resolution for "Hi-Res". I think it's somewhat less than 640x240p. I think it doubles the horizontal resolution of the standard resolution mode. I have the N64 Ultra HDMI mod and it is very obvious when a game is in an interlaced mode because there is combing. 480i Goldeneye is also quite obviously a sharper image than Perfect Dark "Hi-Res".

I would say that 480i NoAA Goldeneye and "Hi-Res" Perfect Dark run about the same speed. Both frequently become too slow when in full-screen. Perfect Dark however even becomes unplayably slow in standard resolution on some missions. It drops below 10 fps. Rare was a bit too ambitious with PD. They should have just transitioned it to Gamecube.
