Been following the MISTER project pretty much since its inception and I've never purchased the hardware to build one because it has been too expensive and too DIY-hacky-looking once you actually build one.
But now this is coming out next month - the MISTER Multisystem 2. It is an all-in-one solution. I'm on the pre-order list. Altogether I paid about $350 USD (shipped from the UK) for the main unit and an SNES controller SNAC adapter.
One thing I will be anxious to try is the N64 turbo core - it promises compatibility with 99 percent of games and with framerate improvements to many games, including Goldeneye.
I will be sure to post some videos in this thread once I actually get one since my capture card supports VGA capture.

| This will also be the first time I've dug out my Adaptoid (N64 controller to USB adapter) in quite a few years. If I can find it...... |

Yes, please keep us informed about this. I *really* want a future proof (well, twenty or thirty years proof, so I'll be dead when it fails) N64 solution, with quality HDMI output. When the 'Analogue 3D' (a strange name for an N64 clone) was announced, I pre-ordered it, as it sounded great and the company apparently made a range of very high quality console clones. But the console's release had been set back again (and the company hasn't exactly done anything to keep us purchasers abreast of developments, you know, like actually telling us anything at all).
Hopefully the Analogue 3D will be here soon, and be everything I'm hoping it will be (100% compatible with all commercial and homebrew games, excellent HDMI output, hopefully other features such as snapshot save/load, cheat support, etc). But if it's not, or if Analogue announce that it's not going to be out for a long time, or if they decide to abandon the project and issue refunds, then I will be looking for a new solution. |

5 months later and I finally received mine. Haven't gotten around to testing the N64 core yet, but my initial impressions playing some of the arcade cores are very good. Initial setup was a breeze as the online manual had detailed instructions for how to get started. My only challenge was figuring out the correct settings in the mister.ini file to get this to display properly on my CRT computer monitor, which I eventually figured out.
Input lag - my single biggest gripe about most emulation methods is input lag, which I'm super sensitive to. Here, it is basically non-existent. By my math, I should be getting 1ms of lag from my USB (it is a Buffalo classic controller), 2.4ms from the mister itself (in its low latency mode), and 2ms from routing it through my Micomsoft XRGB3 scaler. So about 5.4ms, or 1/6th of a frame, which is excellent.
On the NES core, I have to say I'm a bit disappointed in the color as none of the included palettes really closely matched my NES native output.
Next on my list is to test a few different N64 cores, including the turbo core, with my Adaptoid and an original N64 controller. I will post some screenshots and video capture (also can post some framerate overlay). |
