the thread originally only refered to all bonds but then MRKane posted about the boat, which is a result of his research on model modification. the same research that first resulted in the all bonds hack.
since it's something important, the threads author seems to have modified the title to reflect this.
well, at least that's what logic tells me is what happened. |

Yeah, since this was originally in regards to his "All Bonds" patch up on the Vault, but ended up turning into a thread about his attempts at getting the speedboat drivable, I altered the title. I figured it might also give it some more attention.
MRKane hasn't released any files for the speedboat, only images. _________________

basically, MRKane has hacked the tank to look like the speedboat. this results in a speedboat that you can mount in and drive.
read the rest of the thread for details. |

I'm sorry guys, i feel so dumb lol. I posted the same question twice on this thread and wondered why it never showed up. I just realized that longer threads form multiple pages. Now I see the boat. lolol sorry guys. |

I suppose I owe everyone a few details here.
I moved the steering wheel over to the right hand side because that's the side that the player mounts the tank - just sort of seemed right because I'm from New Zealand also...it's an inhouse thing.
Currently the boat travels at the same speed as the tank - I haven't managed to track down anything that allows a modification, but I might do so, because it's a seriously long way across the dam.
Currently I think the missing windscreen has to do with the face data...it's stored at the end of the bin file with the codon C0 08 00 02 (or was it 0C 08 00 02...?). Basically it's ended with either 30 01 or 28 01 before the next block. What I think is happening is that the windscreen is encoded as the final block. Usually the file would end after that, but it has to be extended for the Tank file ending data. So the windscreen is skipped. I'm still working on that...it could take some time.
What next: BMW - I'm amazed at your level design and lighting work. I've successfully crashed Goldeneye many times now, just trying to add ladders to the docks. First off the colours are never right, the BSP never lines up, and I can't make the ladders or edging keep it's Alpha. Further more, there are some WTF bugs in the clipping - ladders that you can fall through and a room that's going it solo. It's the persuit of a dream.
Currently I'm sitting on the boat because it's not finished and I'm a prefectionist. Now that I got a little more info from Zoinkity pertaining to the setup of the files I might be able to complete it and also get rid of some of the "hanging" bugs that seem to accompany the model. If there's a public outcry it might have to get released...god imagine the carnage.
The model modification is actually very simple, it's just tedious finding out what's what. It started as a stab in the dark, and seems to have created a stir. Believe it or not I use some basica programmes to hack the files and extract data - that's how easy. I'll try to get it together quickly guys, I'm just after that windsheild. Failing that...perhaps I'll forget the windshield and just flick it out there!
From here...I've got my sights on a motorbike... _________________ No Mr. Bond, I expect you to be re-coded! |

You know, as sick as it would be to ride the motorbike, I'm quite interested in seeing the military jeep made drivable. Imagine ripping through the Jungle in a jeep, smashing into commando's left and right. That'd be so rad...
But anyways, the bike is a much bigger priority. It was supposed to be in the Runway, afterall. The top-speed on that sucker would definitely need increasing. Where that data is stored, I don't know. It's gotta be somewhere. _________________

Your clipping bugs are most likely caused by ladders being composed of more than 2 tris - vertical clipping can only be composed of 2 triangles - any more than that and you will have problems like you've described.
As for rooms lining up - I think there may still be a bug in the editor (not sure if Subdrag has fixed this in the most current release) where entering new center room coordinates doesn't work for either the x or the z coord (I can't remember which one) - I just know that once room positions are output and then re-input, the room which you re-centered is no longer where it should be relative to one of those axes.
As for alpha, I'm not sure the editor supports that either, at least as far as exporting your rooms after modifying alpha - I know that when I tried it before the alpha always got reset to 255. |

12 years ago I looked across the dam and wondered: what's that island?
Snice then I've made clipping for it. Shot guards on it. Taken a tank to it.
Last night the conversation went as follows:
Mig "So dude, you're telling me that you can read this?"
Mark "Not necessarally read, but it makes a little sense: this C0 08 00 02 says that we're drawing polygons with this texture. B8 says it ends. 04 apparently loads verticies, and 05 defines offsets-but I just can't figure out what defines the length that the programme draws polys, there must be a call somewhere."
It hit me then - this stuff is like Assembler (flashback to when I was 15 and naieve) and the 05 blocks aren't offsets, they're more like sub-routines, there was no length command - each one in the polygon area pointed to an E7 block. The tank object called it's own subroutines and every object generated itself instead of and external aspect of the programme doing it. Simply: the windscreen was missing because it wasn't getting called. I had to insert an 05 comand somewhere. Second likely spot did the trick, and vola! The boat is complete.
It's been over 12 years, but for the first time we can now drive over to the island in the boat. The last bugs were fixed by changing a few offsets and the vehicle can now be inserted over the tank model (although the jerkyness was found to be the result of inserting in the 21990 editor and re-indexing everything). What makes this even sweeter is that it runs perfectly on a backup unit.
I'll get the level made and release it to the public. And if I can't get the level made, I'll just release the damn thing. I'd like to tweak it down for size yet, as it can be done, and polish a few things. The headache and childhood dream is now pretty much over.
Watch this space guys, and if you don't hear back from me, Rare blew a fuse and signed a hit on me for doing something they didn't.
P.S. on that note, is there any HARD proof that the boat was actually ever part of the game? _________________ No Mr. Bond, I expect you to be re-coded! |

That bottom right image is just jaw-dropping. It seriously is like a dream come true. Using a GameShark to step out of the clipping boundaries and walk over the water to the Island, using start point mods to begin your mission there, and even clipping the water surface and running over there, none of them will compare to this. My hat is off to you. _________________

None, outside of the fact that there is a pad (006F) for it over the water. Mark Edmonds pretty much confirmed that the boat ride never got beyond the concept stage:
Mark Edmonds wrote: | "There was talk about being able to drive a boat there, but we never got around to implementing the boat… Development was very freeform and unplanned back then – some things made it in and some didn’t. We really were working out how to do everything as we went along." |
---
Related to your hack, I'm curious, would it be possible to replace one of the unused objects with this boat object, and have both tanks and boats (and possibly motorbikes later) in one ROM? |
