Didn't Wreck make a level called Chemlab? What ever happened to it, I loved the Quad. Was Chemlab ever finished and does anyone have the code for it? |

Actually the Chemlab was in the works. Not sure, but I think Wreck was having GS difficulties? It would be nice to hear from him actually. Yeah, 2 players in the quad is crazy. What a friggin hoot! |

Speaking of the Quad, anyone here have some good action shots of it? I have to enter all my codes in manually so I'm wonder if it would be worth my time to enter in. |

I should be updating the quad soon. I didn't even realize that I hadn't done an official page for it. Sorry about that Wreck! As far as being worth it, 2 player is a real hoot. We tried with 4 players and honestly the framerate really bagged. |

Citadel, Quad, and Surface are my 3 favorite gamesjark levels so I'd definitely say it's worth it.
Three player Quad isn't too bad, we actually play it all the time, but four-player is horrible.
CHemlab just sounded like another fun level I'd like to try. I think just the back part of Dam would be fun too. Problem with the whole level is that the framerate sucks. I really wish I knew how to hack these games or I would try to make new levels all the time. |

Chemlab was in the works directly after The Quad, but was never finished. The last time I tried to polish her off, it kept crashing on me. I didn't go through everything to find out why, but I could probably fix it. There are so many text files on my PC regarding it, that I can get confused rather quickly. Also, seeing how long it has been since I've touched it, it'd be a challenge just to find all of the codes! hehe.
Yes, The Quad in 4-Player suffers from severe framerate loss.
To be honest, I've never even played it on 2-Player with anyone, so I can't tell you how poor the gameplay can get with four active gamers. All I know is that it is was bad enough when controlling only one character and the other three just standing there. I don't know if it plays any better via Emulation or not. You ever tested that, Graham? It'd be nice to know whether or not she runs smoother on a PC. Maybe it could be more tolerable...
By the way, I'm happy to hear that you guys enjoy The Quad, even if it is only on 2 & 3-Player modes. Since it was a total customization of the one area in Facility, it means more to me to hear that it's fun, rather than it does some gigantic level with a ton of play space. I wanted to make it feel like a war zone, complete with cover and explosions. It's surprising that it all fit into less than 250 lines, allowing anyone with a 3.3 to play it. Anyways, it's cool to see that people are liking it. |

Quad is definitely one of my favorites, up there with Citadel and Surface. Quad and Surface don't have very good framerate, but we play it 3-player and it's worth it. Quad with rockets is amazing, it's probably the only level I really like rockets it, I normally would much rather GLs, but not in the Quad. Really, thanks Wreck, it's a great level! |

I had an opportunity to play the Quad 4-player on a computer with 3 other people. With an XP 2800+ CPU running at 2.08 GHZ, it was actually very playable. I think that with an even faster computer, framerate would be a non-issue.
I don't think warzone is a big enough word to accurately describe what gameplay was like. With rockets, it wasn't safe to go anywhere. |

Thanks, that really helps to boost my hopes for how GoldenEye could possibly run on the Nintendo Revolution. Since it is supposed to be a form of emulation, it should be able increase the framerate and keep it at an even pace throughout the match. Let's just keep our fingers crossed. |

That's a great point. And Quad's not even too bad on 3-player, so two consoles later you'd think four-player would be fine.
And btw, I'm just guessing that Chemlab is one of the new levels Wreck is working on, since he's still got all the files and stuff. Whether this is it or not, I'm really looking forward to Wreck's new levels. |

I made a short video of the Quads in 4-player on my computer. XP 2800+ AMD Processor running at 2.08 GHZ, 256 MB memory on Project 64 v1.6. I actually have 2 computers, so I was able to route the video output through my TV-out on my video card and into the tuner card on my other computer (that way the recording process didn't use up any CPU on the computer running the eumlator). I ran it in 640x480 windowed mode so you could see the CPU/framerate stats while the game was running (though they're kinda hard to read due to the WMV compression of the video file). If you look close, you can see that the framerate ranges from 50-60 most of the time and that the CPU, though running very close to MAX, very seldom actually maxes out to where the idle shows 0.0%
I was the only one playing, but I mapped all 4 players to the same controller, so there is action from all 4 players on the screen.
right-click and save as with this 3 MB wmv file |

I'm gonna have to check that video out on my PC later tonight. I always enjoy seeing clips of people battling in any of the multi maps I put together.
If the Revolution does lag on GoldenEye, I'll just laugh.
The processing power it'll possess compared to the N64 should be far more than enough to get this badboy running smooth and steady. It's nice being able to play it on another console, but if it's an exact emulation of how it runs on the Nintendo64, I'll stick with the original.
Edit: I just watched the video clip and really have to say, The Quad looks like it is running a hundred times better with 4-Players on your PC than how it plays on console. It looked as though the frames were constant between roughly 52-63. If Revolution emulates anything like that, we'll be in for a treat. |

Marvelous!
It's great to hear that someone else is able to play The Quad properly. I've still got my hopes up for GoldenEye emulation on the Revolution. So long as it's released and we can modify the ROM, things are looking good. |
