 |
|
Okay, I'm on my third GS now. The first two were 3.3's. I just got my 3.2 in and I'm trying to get it to hook up to my computer but I can't seem to figure it out. I bought a parallel to USB cable from eBay to connect the laptop to the GS. I connect them, turn the GS on then run GSCC software, select the code list I want to put in and hit upload. It trys to upload the codes then says Error: Communication has timed out. That's using the Console.txt file found in the FAQ Sticky. When I click on the Master List sticky and try and upload master.txt I get another error: An error occurred! errors.txt Displays The Errors!
What the mess is going on? Yes my counter on the front does work. Any ideas?
Thanks! |

ooh, the parallel to USB cable might be your problem - I'm not sure if GSCC will properly interface to the GS this way. I'm thinking you might need an actual parallel port on your computer. |

USB to parallel does not work (mainly because they are only designed for printers and do not fully uphold the standard). You are required to get a port replicator or a PCMCIA to parallel convertor. |

Do you think I could get a 9-pin to 25-pin and then put an adapter on the 9pin to make it a 25-pin? RadioShack had all those funky adapters but I don't know if I would be doing the same thing I'm doing now with one of those...
Thanks! |

Serial to parallel you mean? I'm not sure if they work but my guess is they won't here because they're again very simple versions that do not fully support the port. If you are on a laptop your best bet is a port replicator. |
