I think for goldeneye online multiplayer to really take off in popularity, we need to get some rom packs put together so there aren't a bazillion different patches floating around out there.

Once everything is finsihed, we'll have:

-original levels
-wreck's map pak
-bmw's map pak
-port pak (PD and Banjo Kazooie)
-hammer pak

We also need an NGPA version of each pak. So that makes for a total of 10 rom patches.

I'd like to be able to zip all 10 into a zip file along with an ini file so that people can download one single zip file, apply the patches, place all 10 patched roms into one directory, and then people can easily play goldeneye online.

As far as work that needs to be done to the paks:

-Original levels - just a 21990 mod to unlock everything
-wreck's map pak - all finished
-bmw's map pak - I'm working on it
-port pak - once Kode-z finishes his projects, I believe we'll have 11 ported stages as follows:
skedar
car park
g5
grid
chicago
top of fortress
crash site
base

Then add to that the Banjo Kazooie ports:

Furnace Fun
Grunty's Tower
MMM Cellar

As for the hammer pak, we don't have a lot of material to choose from just yet, but I think we could start out with a beta rom containing the 4 or 5 different hammer levels that are out there.

I think it would be better to separate the PD and BK map packs, IMO.

Bundling the missions and maps into one rom will be difficult from what SubDrag told me over MSN, but it would be easier to find them rather than searching for that perfect patch as you mentioned about so many floating around.

Actually, I wasn't worried about including the missions in these paks - just the mp maps.

re: extremist - that's fine, it doesn't really matter to me if they're separated or not, I was just thinking since there's 12 slots that it could all be combined into one.

This is a good idea. I wonder if SubDrag could whip up a custom patcher like he did with the PD level pack for the editor, it would be nice to only have to select the ROM and have it generate all 10 ROMs from that.

A stand-alone patch utility would be nice. That way it could be distributed in the zip file without people having to download the entire editor.

OK, I'll look into it guys. Just keep in mind you can't just apply 10 ROM patches at once - they all overwrite 21990 and tread on each other.

I always wanted a PD multi pak, but when I did it once, it made 21990 too big and wouldn't load. It's time somebody tried again. Zoinkity shrunk 21990 enough to fit more...but then his shrunk one wouldn't load in my editor.

We're not talking about applying 10 different patches to the same rom, we're talking about generating 10 separate roms. Once done, there will indeed be 10 separate roms. The idea is that somebody can download the entire multi map pak with all 10 ips patches and easily generate 10 different rom files, then copy and paste those 10 rom files into their mupen game directory.

So the idea is a patcher that, once open, asks you to input all your patches (either by selecting them all or by simply selecting an entire directory where they're stored), to input your original rom, and then outputs 10 individual rom files.

Oh, that's easy enough. Give me a couple weeks I'll rig something up, and it'll take an ini file as input, then choose a ROM, and output will be all the IPS files.

if only you can put it back on the console like this.
that might take a bunch of money or it might take little effort.
