I'm really loving this new computer of mine. I routed the s-video output on my video card directly into the s-video input on my tuner card. Now I can encode realtime wmv8 files of whatever is going on on my computer screen.
So I can use this to make realtime goldeneye videos from the emulator.
First up - a trick you can use in the library mission. I totally suck at speed runs, but this trick allows for a slight shortcut. But I'm not sure if you can use it to shave off any time off a speed run or not.
I kept the quality setting kid of low to keep the video's filesize fairly small, but I can crank it up for future videos if you want.

I got in there once and got stuck for about 5 minutes before a guard heard me  i was shooting the pp7 i got a new laptop and it runs goldeneye  perfect just like that pity i cant say the same about the editor  but my old computer runs it fine

That shortcut is a little shorter as far as total distance traveled, but the problem is getting the scientist to immediately head for the door.
The other option is you can rush to that area and shoot your kf7 at the green door and the guard will come running, but then it takes longer to get out of the second (grey) door because there are no more guards in the immediate vicinity to let you out.
My best time without the shortcut is 47 seconds. 54 seconds with it, so I don't know it is possible to get through there quicker. |

| Ah very cool, I thought you blocked that sneaky thing. Kinda like the Facility shortcut. That might help more on secret/00 agent speed runs? |

I really tried to block it, but as you can see it is possible to get in there.
I know there's also something that I used to trigger the back door unlocking just in case you got stuck in there. But I can't remember what triggers that.
But yeah, this shortcut could be used to slash times at the harder skill levels. |

Ugh, I've been trying to beat this thing at the highest difficulty level and that stupid security camera in the main upstairs room is the death of me, I can not seem to be able to destroy it before it goes off.
I even managed to kill off all the guards it spawned off and then again, trying to destroy it, I set it off  |

FINALLY! I think I've set a new record (the best I've seen anybody post thus far is 0:41)
Too bad I wasn't taping. All I have to show is a screenshot.
I really highly doubt that 0:39 is possible. I could maybe see you taking advantage of being shot by a few guards and being accelerated by the hit. |

That :38 run was near-flawless. Though I'm not so sure that's the theoretical shortest distance traveled. :37 may be possible. The key to the extra boost at the end is to get the final exit doors to open outwards, and thats not easy to do, you have to be standing at just the right angle to them and in just the right spot.
Can anybody get under 3:00 for Secret Agent mode (the middle one)? I've managed 3:03, I'm sure in the neighborhood of 2:45 is easily possible. |
