 |
|
With the increase of people getting interested in making their own Hammer maps and such, I thought that a manual clipping guide would be a good call.
I'm currently writing a tutorial for anyone who has clipping problems with their maps. I'm trying to make it very clear so that it's easy to follow.
It should be complete in about 2 weeks. |

Sounds excellent, Kode-Z!
I know you've been busy helping others with their clipping files, so you're one of the best people out there to write a tutorial on the subject. I do look forward to checking it out. _________________

Fantastic! Lots of people have trouble here (as clipping is tough!), so this will help a lot |

Yep - clipping is TOUGH; even for the most seasoned professionals!
Seriously though, I'm going to cover all the essentials of manual clipping. A tutorial for it is long overdue! |

Except maybe for me
I suppose I should finish up my tutorial one of these days on manually making adjustments to the background data of pre-existing levels. |

I would like to ask you (and extend it anyone planning to make new docs, or update existing ones) if you could, well, focus also on the rationale of things, the hows and whys of things, and not just on the practice.
I may be an oddball and probably I'm the only one interested in that, so I can't really push you for the extra work if it's just me who will benefit from it. It's just that I tend not to find plain tutorials ("do this, do that and there you go") very helpful. When I do something I need to understand why I'm doing things and have a good notion of what my manipulations actually do rather than blindly follow a recipe. No matter how good and effective that recipe is, it just doesn't work for me.
I'm not saying that you are not going to do that, or that it won't be a good tutorial if you don't, but you'd make me very happy if you did. |

i know a simple way of clipping(for me its simple)
in the editor you goto edit room positions right click on any part of the map and goto convert to cliping then convert triangle to clipping.
now there is clipping on that triangle. |

I'll try my best!

For the majority of maps, this would usually be adequate - but in the cases where tri points don't meet accordingly in parts of the map then this tutorial would come in handy! |

Just letting you all know that I haven't abandoned this! (I've just been busy with work.)
I'm always adding to it and I don't want to leave anything out. It'll be worth it!
