Ladder clipping needs to be flat, composing of 2 tri's from top to bottom.
If this is the case, highlight both tiles, right click, and select "clipping type > ladder" |

| The clipping tris at the bottom and top of the ladder must meet up with the ladder tris perfectly or it won't work. |
