 |
|
The Sound import to GE is still "beta', but it has been shown to be quite functional. I now rewrite the entire end of ROM, from music to files to images, so you can add midis and wavs of any size (up to N64 limits). You need to use Mono (1 channel) 16-bit Signed PCM Wave files at 22050.
I recommend the tool Audacity, open your wav, change sampling bottom left, change to mono in top left, then export to 16-bit PCM signed wav.
bmw recommends goldwave - this program is technically shareware but is fully functional, the only limitation being a limit of 100 edits every time you open a file. Go to File - New, set channels to Mono, sampling rate to 22050, and length to 1 second. Then go to File - Open, and open the sound file you want to use. Copy the entire sound file (or the portion of it which you want to export), click back on the new file you created, hit delete button to delete the 1 second empty file, then go to Edit and Paste. From there you can save your file.
There's a new directory in full installer with extracted sounds to play, but should be optional. This is a new tab in 21990 editor. This does not work for PD as it does not work for PD, and sound effects are mp3s.
There's still a lot to learn there but you should be able to import wavs! You can add wavs to end of bank (beyond normal sound bank), then in action blocks (now supports beyond 0x105) point to your new sound! Who's up for recreating real GoldenEye sounds? You can also modify instruments or add new instruments I suppose.
Here's a teaser:

Open a runway shutter door and you'll hear new sound.
This is the first editor I "support" Perfect Dark, although still in beta form and many options will not be valid. I've changed to be more pronounced menu option. It's called "Switch Editor Game (GE/PD)" It is at version 0.4 now, and so very much left, but it seems basic edits are now possible, so I've promoted it (but not advertised).
I also added quick inject for PD/GE (uses quick ROM, then injects instead of converts, so positions are dynamic and size can be larger). This should speed up edits and PD analysis (press F7 to quick inject or Shift F7 quick inject and run PJ64).
I have fixed (I think) PD CRcs automatically when quick injecting or saving. If it doesn't work, let me know. Need rn64crc in main folder (comes with editor).
So happy holidays!
I have updated F1 help menu with all available options.
