Old NES CD game system discovered

From the description it seems like the basis of this was similar to old systems that loaded programs from tape cassettes. I say this because the discs seem to have been playable on a normal audio CD system, which would mean that the data in them would be encoded as pulses on a normal redbook audio stream, and not as CD-ROM data which would be decoded into bits and stored in some intermediate RAM in the interface card they mention. Seems like they got inspired by the FDS but took the "audio tape" approach to it, only that they used CD xD.
I assume that you'd have to suffer a rather long "now loading" screen while the game would fullly load into the cart and you could start playing.

Wow i never no that befor that is insane to this make me want to go buy a NES now just to play some of the games on it agand.

That was typical of early CD software. Look at how many CDs were specially coded back in the win3.1 era. Half of them work on normal CD players, or at least half of mine do. Nightmare for the DOSBox people to emulate, I'm sure.

Still a bloody shame they didn't bring the FDS overseas. They're really nifty--and somewhat easy to duplicate if you hook two machines together ;*)
