So, I'm directing this to our almighty hackers here, or to anyone who masterizes the setup editor well enough...
What's your recommendations on what to do, and what not to do as a first-timer with the setup editor?
What kind of modifications would you advise for a newcomer that he could easily achieve without asking for assistance?

It's certainly just a matter of feelings I guess but still, I have to ask because, I'm not really on my ease with it... I mean, okay it's a clear and super-powerful editor, but I just don't know where to start, there's so much going on... :/

Also I'm having a lot of issues on moving through visual levels, if the config can be changed, please tell me!

It really all depends on what your preference is, and what you want to start with.

Anyways, first obviously start off opening the level of your preference, which can be done by going to file, open Uncompressed, and navigating to the level found in your Goldeneye Editor folder (It should start with Usetup.). Once that is done, go to Tools>Preferences, than go down to 'Quick Convert' ROM and choose your Goldeneye Rom and also choose your Project 64 location. The most common things for users to do in this editor, is to change the guards and change there guns, and also insert guards and miscellaneous objects. To do this, go to Edit Setup>Visual Editor, and I'll start off on how to do these things.

Ok, we will first start off on how to change guards. Once in visual editor, navigate to a guard, and right click him. Then navigate to 'Change Guard' and choose which guard you want to be replaced. Once clicked, the guard should change it's uniform. You can also change the head of the guard to in the same menu. Now, to change the weapon, we are going to right click the guard and choose 'Add weapon Right/Left' and choose the weapon of your preference. Now to save the game, you will press F5 or F7. Now that's your basic tutorial on how to do things in the editor. If any problems/questions, just ask me. Now to embarrass the coders of this program, Goldeneye Setup Editor crashed on me 7 times while writing up this tutorial. Smile

Well it depends on how you start.

The best way to get started is to start out small like make a muti level on a goldeneye solo map like i did on jungle streats and the frigate.

Then get your self use to a 3D editor nonething better then learning it all from top to bottom.

The best 3D editors is DeleD and Google.

And then oens you make a muti map in a goldeneye level and in your own 3D level then try makeing a solo level.

Solo level can be very hard to make if your doing lots of stuff in it.

your best shot is to wrait it all down in a peace of paper.

Draw your level in it then put your objects in it and all that.

Then you sud have no problem what so ever.

@ acceptable67 : Thanks a lot man! Those are the very basics of editing as I see, it's always nice to be told about these by advanced users. Smile
Also is it possible to use the visual editor in Perfect Dark or is still too much in a beta stage?

@ EternallyAries : Thanks for the advices! I'm familiar with level design as I make Doom maps, and I do intend on learning to make Source maps, and converting them to GE. Smile

Yes yes, it is. I just used GoldenEye as an example because this was posted in Q-lab. Smile
