Far fetched project, very very very far fetched, but I'm hoping to find maps from games such as Quake, Unreal, etc, that can be converted into model format, from there to .obj format. Anyone know of any that can? |

I know mod DB has some SDK kits for those games, I don't know if the feaures include exporter models.
It is likely that unless you use the older games the poly count will be really high.
I am a modeler by trade and own a copy of 3ds max, do you have anything in mind?

I'm trying to find a way to convert, for example, Quake maps into .obj format. Generally, I'd assume almost all conversions would be modeller format -> game, and not the other way around, but hoping to find one that converts to, for example, 3ds max format, then eventually to .obj. |

Well, I'm not a modeller, so I want to try and find a community that has huge amounts, and easily convert it to our formats. |

Well in halo you can extract the bsp tags from the maps you wish to and there are apps made by halo moders that convert the bsp tags to .obj format... (Here is a link to an app that can extract the tags http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?pg=3&fid=1729 also here is a link to a program that can convert that tag to obj format http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?pg=3&fid=2029 . if this is of any relevance the last program i listed was made in C# (which i guessing is a programming app. well if you need anymore info don't ask me because that is as much as i know, just research it. (i doubt this will work though due to the complexity of halo's models when comparing it to goldeneye) |

That's the sort of stuff I'm looking for. Cough, do you know where there are a list of Halo maps? If you find any more games that have similar conversions, please let me know. I'm not sure how many halo maps there are, but this may be a good start. |

perfect dark source, halflife halo 1 and 2 counter strike 1.6 etc.. all have obj files I think. |
