 |
|
Hey there im new here,
Goldeneyes always been my favvourite game since 1998, and in fact the only game ive ever been any good at!! Ive never been much of a gamer but still love old Goldeneye. I hadnt played it for nearly a year but then decided to bring it down to my uni house with me and its been a huge hit and its been awesome to play again, you never lose the old touch!!
Anyway the last month or so ive been seeing all this "gameshark" and "action replay" stuff which has been blowing my mind basically, stuff that you guys have done, which in the full 9 years of having the game ive never done, (like playing the back end of facility, citadel, blood cheat, solo missions in mulitplayer etc) and i think would be awesome for me to do to revive the game a little. I have a few questions if someone could answer them for me as im so new to all this stuff?
1.All these mulitplayer level hacks youve done like back end of facility, cradle, citadel, and solo missions in mutlipayer- do you have to play these on a computer or can they be played on the Nintendo 64?
2.I was unable to get a pal gameshark (cant find them anywhere) but did get a pal action replay which i figured might still be pretty decent for this stuff (goldeneye detstar has lots of action replay codes), but is any of the awesome stuff you guys have done awesome with an action replay??
3. Simple question really, how complicated is it to do? For example i read that to get the facility backend you have to go put codes in then go to the door that is locked and then press the AR button so it explodes, so is this stuff REally complicated?
Cheers for your help, ill post more questions when i can think of them
great site btw

Both. Console takes longer.

No such thing as a pal gameshark. Action replay PRO can play GS codes, but thats as close as you're gonna get.
There isn't many good AR codes around.

Complicated to make. Boring to type in. Easy to play. |

Thanks a lot, yes it is an action replay pro i have
I have a few more questions if thats okay
1. Can Gameshark codes be converted for action replay?
2.You say theres no such thing as a gameshark PAL, does that mean many of the codes are not possible without say an American console and gameshark?
3. I understand that some things such as the facilty backzone or the citadel can be accessed as they are actually in the games memory, but how do you play things such as "the quad" mulitplayer with spawning points and gun/ammo placements on the n64 when this was never in the original programming?! I take it you have to use a computer for that? |

Yes but it takes a long time.

Gameshark codes work on PROs. But NTSC codes and PAL codes are different, a AR that isn't a pro can only use PAL codes (AR) and a GS that isn't pro can only use GS codes. I think Pros can use most of both types.

To play it on console you type the codes in the AR. To play it on emu (comp) you just copy paste and turn on. |

wow so ur saying thats its possible to play what is basically a made up level by a hacker(ie the quad, or say the jungles, in multiplayer) just by typing a code into the gameshark/AR and it will work?! Thats amazing. |

I think it could be played with the proper uploading tools. But It is safer to play it on your computer...mainly because if you uploaded it to console..you would blow some circuits at your internet provider _________________ Total War - Coming Soon!

sorry i have just a few more questions (forgive me, i really am new to all this)
1. If i type in a long code into a gameshark or action replay, will it stay in the memory of the GS/AR so that when ive turned it off and turn it on again i can simply select the code ive used before, or do i have to type the code in every time and i start up the game want to play say, the cradle in mulitplayer?
2. I found this on goldeneye detstar which sounds really cool:
"Play Statue and Cradle in Multi: 8102 A8F2 0001
Just go into the Multiplayer screen, set up players, weapons etc. Then go to Mission mode and select the cradle. It's that simple. This is a real, non-phony code that actually works perfectly. You'll even have weapons to pick up off the ground, body armor, as well as different starting points, and you can play with four players. To top it off, when someone dies, they come back, and the game doesn't freeze! (unlike the Silo, Streets or Aztec)"
Are there any other levels from the single player missions that can be played in mulit using just a GS or AR? And do you know the codes?
Many thanks |

Yeah, the GS/AR saves your codes.

Statue and Cradle are special in that Rare created multiplayer setups for them but decided not to include them (It's pretty obvious they replaced them with Stack and Basement). Cradle plays pretty good but Statue lags even with two players.
In order to play any other single player map in multi you'll have to use codes that add all the stuff that's missing from those levels (Start points, weapons presets, objects, etc.). BMW's site at Goldeneye Forever has those codes. |

ok cool, will i need a pc to get them to work?
OH and i have an action replay now, ive put the code in to get cradle in multi player, then saved it and activated it, started the game, set up a 2 player game and then clicked on the single player cradle mission to start the two player game (like GE detstar says), but it just loads the one player game. where am i going wrong?
Btw the AR code is: Play the Cradle in Multiplayer: 81025E46 0029
sorry for asking so many questions you guys |

Only Citadel. For the others, if you have a parallel port and a cable you can upload codes to your GS/AR which is faster than entering them manually but it's not needed. Actually, I'm not sure if you can upload to an AR or not, I've never owned one.

Detstar is wrong, just select any level in the multi menu. All the code does is force Cradle to load no matter what you chose, so selecting any single player level will load the single player Cradle mission, selecting any multi level will load its multiplayer setup. |

your help is much appreciated, ive been playing mulitplayer cradle and statue with all bonds for the first time ever in 10 years of goldeneye today!!!
However something that concerns me is that having an action replay and not a gameshark prevents me from using all these far more awesome codes that the likes of wreck and co have created such as train multiplayer etc as i have an action replay, which kinda sucks. |

That's a huge amount of helpful information for me as well. Saved me a lot of question-asking.
I'm using 1964 as my emulator.
When I enter GoldenEye Forever's code for Cradle in Multi-player:
8102B11D 0092
8102B11F 0093
8002B127 0029
8102B123 0008
802ADC8D 0052
802ADC8E 0041
802ADC8F 0044
802ADC90 004C
802ADC91 0045
and then start up the game, it won't even run. Just a black screen. Where am I going wrong?
I'm sure I'm screwing something up. New to the GS thing.
Then there's
http://goldeneye.detstar.com/gameshark/gameshark.asp
How does 8102 A8F2 0001 work?
I know that the first 8 digits represent what you're changing, and the last 4 are what you're changing it to. But all of the codes on that page are 3 groups of 4 digits.
Again, I'm sure I'm screwing something up here.
I've had the game since the N64 launch, and have always wanted to do these types of things. Any advice? |
