 |
|
Thought I'd post a few pictures of my first (ever) custom made map using the Hammer Editor. It started out as two temple themed rooms, but has since evolved into a French castle. There is still a lot to go (including a dungeon, moat, sleeping quarters, and other secrets!), and changes to the areas you are about to see may be possible. In the meantime, I wanted to let you all in on my progress.
Also note, that because of Dragonsbrethren's assistance, we've been getting secondary indices to work for new rooms. Both railings and posters have been tested, with more on our list. This means that overlapping images, used to spruce up bare walls, will give even more life to our maps.
(the jpeg compression has made the red carpets look very poor...)
Main entrance area...
Historical library...
Secret location...
Cemetary...

Yeah, Zelda was the first thing that came to mind when I saw those pics. Excellent work.
How long did that take you, what you have so far? My simple rectangular rooms in the courtyard were somewhat time consuming, getting the window and door frames (and ceiling holes too) to line up perfectly with the adjacent rooms. |

Wow, that's really good looking! I was expecting it to be good but I had no idea how you had the place laid out. Looks like it'll make a really good setting for a mission. Have you tried importing any parts of it yet? |

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like it so far.
It's actually kind of hard for me to judge how much time has gone into this map. I've been sick this last week, so my sleeping routine has jumped around a bit. Also, with all the medication I've been popping, my mind isn't focusing too well on the clock, hehe. I'm sure it has probably been a good fifteen-to-twenty hours, possibly. Sometimes I'll take a break from it to try another new idea out. Got a neat looking corridor made for a different map, if I decide to pursue it.
I hadn't even thought of Zelda until you brought it up. Yeah, it does kind of have that feel to it. I'll accept that, considering The Legend of Zelda is an incredible series.
I'll be sure to keep everyone updated with my progress. _________________
