Basically, yes - by using the original rom image instead of the one converted to a 256-color bitmap. If you look at the final textures file, you will see it always points to a preset, just that when you append images to the rom, it points to those instead.
To subdrag or anybody else who knows this - what exactly IS the image format of the images in the original rom anyways? Are they 256-color bitmaps? If so, why do we lose color when converting one from the wad to a 256-color image? Or are they .gif images? |

There are a lot of types. Most of the color ones (what I import) are 4-bit or 8-bit paletted images (16-color or 256-color). However, some of the greyscale can vary, from 4-bit, 8-bit, and 16-bit. Also, there is raw RGBA 32-bit but it is very rare. |
